An older bottle we had forgotten about in some newer vintages. According to cellartracker this was long past it's prime, but it was very good.

PnP. Good cork, barely soaked. Deep garnet. Plum and cherry nose, with hint of dill and leather. Medium to full bodied, carrying the fruit flavours well. Integrating tannins and medium to high acidity combine to deliver a wine with good balance and decent length. Paired beautifully with food.

Lovely wine that still tastes lively after all these years. Do not decant; best to pop and pour. Nose is funky. Color is on the lighter red side. Body is lighter. Most of the tannins are gone. Still a bit of fruit on the palate. Lovely flavor of rose, dill, pencil shavings, blackberry; earthy. Great balance. Needs food to go with it, including everything from skirt steak to octopus to paella.

Cork was still intact but would not have lasted much longer. Good typicity, smooth tannins. Drink now.

Dried, crumbly, cork. Translucent orange browning at the rim. Typical traditional Rioja nose, sweet, stewed fruit. Smooth, immediately diluted then a thud of rich sweetness. The sweetness is a bit sugary. The score is lower for me for a "like". I'm a sucker for an old traditional Rioja even when a bit sweet and uncomplicated.

Very aromatic. Full-bodied with an initial hint of sweetness but very dry finish. Delicious. Just getting to know Rojas, interested to try more.

Pretty closed on day 1; much better on day two; amazing on day three with lots of matured flavors, good balance and length. Apparently, still a couple of delicious years ahead.

Fruity nose, soft tannins, short finish but quite nice. Really enjoyed, probably at it's peak. Drink now.

Dark fruits, spices, balanced oak and tannins. Less vanilla than before. Nice acidity. In its prime with still at least a few good years left.

Schön ausgewogen und voller Körper. Angenehme schwarze Beerenaromen und gute Tannine. Geht in Ordnung.

Solid little wine for its price point. Cinnamon, light spice, vanilla oak, raspberries too perhaps. Typical Tempranillo medium mouthfeel, however quite a well balanced and smooth enough texture, followed by a medium ish finish. Very inoffensive wine, quite enjoyed it. Drinking well now but I would drink in the next year or so.

This tastes like a big wine. Deep and purple still. Not so strong on the bouquet. Peppery yet smooth. Strong, velvety. Gave the impression that it was 'well made'. Went very well with a filet steak.

Full oak, but has decent acidity and fruit levels to balance it out. The wine really started to show after being opened for 2-3 hours. Pretty good value.

14.0% - Clear, med to deep / clean, high intensity - heavy charred oak, toast & smoke , kirsch, blueberry / dry, med to low acidity, med+ body, med+ integrated tannin, high intensity, med+ length. I had fond memories of the '05 that we had on several occasion, but this one seems overoaked. Even if this could settle down a little bit more with time, it's over the top. At leat we paired it with a bourbon marinaded 2" bone-in …

Gave to LL to taste and review - This wine was totally oxidized...it was more brown than brick, and smelled like sherry. Fruit is gone, and it needs to be dumped.

NobleRottersSydney - Spanish night (Lucio's, Paddington) : Another re-appearance from a previous dinner. Pale brick red. A somewhat tired nose largely consisting of soft old American oak in the classic style. Satisfactory soft and undemanding wine of no particular distinction.

NobleRottersSydney - NOT Oz/NZ/France/Italy (Lucio's, Paddington) : Brick red. A slightly pungent, earthy sour nose. Faintly oxidative notes appear as well. Sweetish, almost fizzy tannins on the palate. A bit leathery in texture – good weight through to the mid-palate. Somewhat traditional Rioja with only moderate oak influence. Attractive for a modest rioja, but unlikely to improve much I think.

NobleRottersSydney (Ganymede bistro & bar) : Light red. Dusty nose. Weak, astringent palate. Past its best.
