Weingut Reinhold und Cornelia Schneider Spätburgunder trocken

I am a great fan of R&C Schneider, but given that this is one of their top wines and I have recently enjoyed some lesser bottlings at least as much, I was a bit disappointed. Slightly lacking midpalate and too much acidity in the finish. Lots of quality too. In an awkward phase?

Nice light red. Subtle fruit with no meaningful tannin.

Hands down one of the best buys of my life! What a tremendous value at its German retail price! Unbelievable what this country can procure these days! So bright, very intense, zippy, cherry-fruited, balanced woodsmoke, long creamy finish, hints of toffee from malo and perhaps a bit of development bu the overall impression is that of a youthful wine still on the upswing. Much improvement over night. On first night it was very lean and a bit weak on the mid palate and the whole Thing did not match with a strong vanilla sweetness from Young Barrels. On day two the vanilla had almost disappeared and the wine had gained a bit more body and length.
