Just picked up 4 of these at an auction. It’s really good. I lean toward Bordeaux so at this stage of life this cab was fantastic. Perfectly integrated tannins and fruit.

Nose is barnyard cherry, oiled leather. Initially a bit tight and slightly bitter, but opens up into a dark cherry cocktail with a bit of acidity. Clearly past its prime but still quaffable.

Pulled the cork, purplish brown & synthetic. Couldn't distinguish whether the cork smelled like grapes or chocolate, probably both. The nose on this wine was massive, what a baller this wine is!! Plenty of chocolate covered cherries, with a distinct aroma of licorice, that pulled you in, anticipating the taste. On the palate, I marveled at the extraordinary complexity this wine displayed. An enormous amount of chocolate & and cherries, with berries and licorice resting on a full blown finish, …

Extremely mellow for a B&H, but not to the point that is was void of fruit. These days I rather prefer this label in this final stage, vs the bombastic candied fruit bruisers most tend to be early on. This one still carried a smidge of high alc palate in the end, which kept it from being one of the best bottles I've had here. Still - good stuff, but I wouldn't hold past another year or two.

Lovely wine despite the off-putting plastic cork - deep purple, rich, ripe fruit, nicely integrated tannin.

Popped and poured at a relatively new restaurant in Wilmington named Rx. Dark fruits and espresso on the nose. Tannins were well integrated with a long finish of black currant.

From Magnum (no rubber cork here). It opened up within 30 minutes. Loads of white pepper, but not so much as to harm the overall package. Nearly jammy blackberries. Some sweet Oak and black currant.

RICH FRUIT IN THE NOSE AND FLAVOR, BLACKBERRIES, BLACK CHERRIES, LICORICE. NICE COMPLEXITY AND A MEDIUM TO LONG FINISH.

Sampled 7/9/12. Fruit bomb with too much alcohol and Oak to make me happy. It did not get better after 4 hours in the air.

As others have noted, this is rather fruit-subdued for a B&H. It does still have that tell-tale dark fruit game plan - although here it's dribbling in the backcourt, instead of pushing it up the floor. But yeah, this is still the goods - and in a great place right now with its soft blue texture and hint of spice. This juice was a bit overwhelmed by the crazy sushi rolls we paired it with - so this may be …

PnP from a magnum. Nice fruit profile, not too ripe like some B&H's. Black & blueberries, soft yet still has a few more years to mellow more.

Had Ellen decant at 4pm, with stopper on decanter. Perfect at dinner, and kept improving over the next 1-1/2 hrs. Our Wine Of The Month! Slight good herbal notes, typical of vintage, and similar to Heitz Martha's Vineyard, or Saaicaia. Glad I have a magmum.

Sampled 4/3/10. Much better than I thought it would be. Huge overripe black fruits, a little Asian spice, a pretty smooth wine but the tannins have solid structure. A very long finish that impresses. Just the right amount of toasted vanilla Oak. Lovely. Drink over the next decade.

From a 750 with a purple synthetic cork. Acetone nose, another B&H disaster. Quite a contrast to the same wine consumed just 1 week ago which was fabulous from magnum with a real cork.

From magnum with a real cork, at post baseball BBQ. Serve this wine cold, at cellar temp, and decant it as there is quite a lot of sediment. Deep nose showing cassis, espresso, and ripe blueberries. Very rich inky and velvety texture with mostly resolved tannins. Long finiish, no notes of VA or acetone and other typical overripe notes that you get with B&H.

Final bottle; decanted and consumed over 90 mins. Less in-your-face-blueberry than many B&H wines, as llink said this is among their better bottlings. Still has telltale B&H Blue notes, but in a good place without being in-your-face. Still good for another 2-5 years; it might get a little softer, but it'll always be a calicab.

this was a wonderful wine. we drank it from a large format (3.0L) so i am not sure how it is drinking from a smaller form factor. black cherry on the palate. the nose of this wine was one of the better that i have experienced in a while. the finish to the wine was well balanced and not dry. some pencil lead on the nose. we opened the bottle and decanted half of it for 1 hour. the wine …

Best showing yet for a B&H wine. Note this was a magnum and had a real cork and not the synth cork...might explain why is was holding up so well. Deep nose of cassis, blueberries and cedar, none of the VA/acetone and off aromas that mar most B&H wines. Very rich but balanced palate, with a nice combination of acidity and structure. Very satisfying and long finish. This is a wow B&H for me, considering previous poor experience with most …

What's the story?! If someone had been smoking near this bottle when I opened it, I might not have lived to write a note about it. Basically, gasoline with some dark cherry undertones. Totally alcoholic, volatiles that made me think chemistry laboratory (benzene, toluene, etc.). I usually love B&H but not this bottle. An awful, mess of a bottle. Why are my notes so different from Parker and Tanzer? Am I missing something? Was this a bad bottle?

Decanted a magnum for 3 hours. Usual dark purple Cab color; fruity black & blueberries, slight alcohol burn in the nose, not much more. Medium plus weight. Fruit forward, but not a fruit bomb. Nice balance overall, silky smooth, soft tannins, just not big complexity. Drinks very nice now yet still can go for another 5+ years.

Opened for a 30 min decant, then returned to bottle w/cork for ride to tasting. Served 2.5 hours after initial opening. No notes taken, but in one word - delicious. Everyone at the tasting agreed. Dark purple color, thick yet not completely full-bodied. Nose of blueberries and other great Napa Cab fruit smells, though not a fruit bomb - subtle. Has some heat to it early on, but of course the last glass was the best. Can drink it now, …

Decanted and allowed to sit for 30 mins while coming to temp. This is all blue and blackberry, a little watery, very fine-grained tanins, and a sharp tinge of oak and alcohol which abated after 2 hrs of decant time. I should have given this time to come to temp. prior to decanting, and believe that with 4-5 hrs this might have come together. However with the time allotted it was disjointed and not up to par.

Upon opening, a bit green and herbacious on the nose, much more pleasant on the palate. Then decanted, and allowed to sit for 45 minutes, and consumed over following 3 hrs. Opaque and purple in appearance, black fruits and plum flavors with a bit of cardomom. Nice silky tanins, however the fruit softened a bit too much after 2 hours in the decanter. Niot a typical "in your face" B&H wine, this was almost refined. Enjoy over the next 2-3 …
