Audrey Wilkinson, The Ridge Semillon, Hunter Valley

A Hunter Valley Semillon with a great combination of primary( lemon,lime,rockmelon,grapefruit,roses) and tertiary ( toast, honey, lanolin and beeswax) aromas and flavours. Good balance and good length. Unfortunately, someone was too heavy on the sulphur dioxide ( preservative 220) which rendered a burnt match flaw to the wine.

Very fresh and surprisingly light for a 9 year old Semillon. Gives the impression it will improve and mature with age, at least 10 more years. A nice wine but I am less than convinced that it deserves its price tag.

11,5% alcohol. Pale, limpid whitish-green color. Tiny bubbles start to form on the inside of the glass. The nose is very light, fresh and crisp, suggestive of tart flavors: there are notes of almost unripe apples, some lemony tones, a little bit of key lime, a vague hint of exotic fruits and a sweeter touch of white peach.
