Pascal Janvier Vin de France

Serve it with a chill! This bottle is all about red fruits, cranberry, maraschino cherry with a dash of pepper, green herbs and a little nutmeg on the finish. The flavor profile reminded me of a regional beaujolais, structurally it veered off in another direction with moderate to low acid and fine sticky tannins. It went really well with dinner on the grill: zucchini, salmon & roasted sweet potato.

Pale garnet, perhaps even dark rose from the Loir, a northern tributary of the Loire. White pepper, raspberry. Minimal finish. Not a huge, or even a big wine, nor is it intended to be. It is an immediately drinkable, elegant, food friendly red without pretense which will be remembered and repurchased. Not everyone will love this indigenous grape varietal (Pineau d'Aunis), I suppose, but I did with this bottle.
