Opened way to early for my taste preference. Very austere, crisp and racy. Mouthwatering minerality leads to a long finish. Excellent complexity.

Couleur : robe « medium (+) gold ».

The Mellot family has been making Sancerre wine for 19 (dix-neuf) generations. Made from 100 year old vines on kimmeridgian marl and limestone soil, and cropped at the low end range of grand cru Burgundy level yields, this wine celebrates that very history. It’s flat out electrifying. Ripe, creamy aromas of gooseberries, honeysuckle, green tea, minerals, and dried mint. Focused and concentrated, firmly structured, with a tactile mouthfeel, and knife like acidity that slices through lychee, lime, and quince flavors. …

Light straw color. Fleeting caraway and lemon pith nose. Bracing citrus-lemon and minerals - lengthy citrus and a chalky, pithy finish. Nice, but in no way worth the price tag. Paired with boiled jersey lobsters, potato salad, and butter.

By the glass as part of the sake & wine pairing at RuyGin, Tokyo Modern expression Sancerre with decent helping of oak, ripe fruit and creamy texture. Not our style but still a wine of quality and with good presence. An interesting twist that works in a way albeit makes the wine a bit on the generic side. A very good 90

New Visit to Territorio Era Bar (Barra Territorio Era - Madrid) : From a bottle "opened" a week ago using coravin. Far away from any typical here, you can't know if this is SB or what the hell is. Impossible even on the palate. What was happening here? Too clear to me ... Argon is not as much neutral for wine as many are supposing. Sorry for this. By the way I like this producer very much. Alphonse Mellot Cuvée Edmond 1983-2014 vertical (Stockholms vinkällare) : Tropical notes on the nose, a slight barrel spicyness to both nose and palate, good depth and length.

Very sauvignon like...

If you are into different whites that do not aim to please the general public, this is the one for you. Mineral yet complex.

Again, not a typical Sancerre (tastes more like Chard) but excellent nonetheless. Better on the 2nd day, despite the fact that it already has some age on it.

I'm no expert on Sancerre, but this doesn't taste like what I expect of a "typical" Sancerre. Having said that, it is really excellent: pear and apple, wonderful mouthfeel, balanced, and the bit of age bringing nice complexity. (Still tastes quite fresh.) For less than $16 this is an absurd value. Buying more.
