Much more restrained this time, probably about to shut down. Dark ruby-garnet with intense sour cherry jam, candied cherry, herbs and sweet spice. Full-bodied with textbook tannins and balancing acidity. Long aftertaste.

Lovely ruby-red colour with a complex nose offering tabasco, leather, ripe red cherries and moca. Well blended in oak. Velvety on palate with more evident oak, clay textured tannins, zesty acidity leading to a fairly long finish. Balanced and more to the elegant side this a more supple version of Mavrotragano compared to Santorini. Multi-layered and ready to drink.(****+)

Surprisingly good wine from an up and coming Greek variety, Mavrotragano. Yet the style of the wine is international with top quality oak and fresh but ripe and opulent fruit - so no rustic hidden Greek treasure but a modern wine that could even pass for Merlot. Athens Wine Event; 4/7/2012-4/8/2012 (Athens, Greece) : Dark purple red on colour, looks and feels very "modern". Among the new specials from Greece and this is a worthy effort from the new age of Greek wine making. Violets and vherry ont he nose. On palate it feels young and although feels forward by design it still needs a few more years. Of course it lacks tipicity (reminds us a lot of the Galatrona style of wines) but still a very …

Fantastic wine! Dark purple. Expressive and continuously evolving nose with coffee, violets, dark cherry, ink, dark plums, iron, sweet oak, fruit cake, liquorice and blackberries. Full-bodied and velvety textured, with rich fruit and balancing acidity. Long aftertaste. Very close in style to Sigalas Mavrotragano 2008, but rounder and more balanced. Will improve with cellaring over the next 5 years at least.
