Anthill Farms, Peter's Syrah, Sonoma Coast

Probably the best Syrah I've had from Anthill, and I have been a HUGE fan for over a decade, having first tried their Sonoma Coast Syrah and only more recently been exposed to their single vineyard Syrahs. Anthill's interpretation of Syrah is reliably fresh, lifted and elegant. I love it. This 2019 Peters is simply gorgeous. Aromas of blackberry, tiny wild blueberry, copious airy spice and flowers (pepper, mint, lavender, violets.. ), citrus and damp soil, sundried tomato and bacon... …

Pleasant enough right now, but I think this needs some time to develop complexity.

Earth, bramble, green pepper, and blueberry compote on the nose. Excellent balance of acidity, fruit, and earth on the palate. Pop and pour and ready to roll.

It has gone bad. Undrinkable

2 hr decant, no sediment. Initial taste is all black and blue fruit, good structure with fading tannins and enough acid to keep the overall impact quite refreshing. Nice tart finish with spicy notes. Should keep a few years more at least.

Plum, dark berries, leather, and violets on the nose. Well integrated tannins with dark fruit and orange notes on the palate. Good finish.

no formal notes. like anthill pinot's better and focus will be on buying those.

Decent bottle for the price point and style. Low acidity, stew type fruit, smooth and easy to drink. Needs more time.

Northern Rhone and Syrah of the World (My house) : A little tight. Medium dark fruit with a bit of tar, flowers. Good.

Nice dark fruits with hints of spice, vanilla and fruitcake? Palate feel quite light with low acidity and fine tannins that give an impression it is not built for the long haul

Clear, deep garnet. Menthol, cassis, leather. Low acids, medium low tannins. tar, blackberry. medium to short balanced finish
