Rather angular at pnp. Too angular. Cinnamon, spiritely. Don’t love it, but don’t hate it. A sharpness. Day 3 and softer palate, not as sharp, but the memory is still there.

2013 vintage

Had an Hilton Oak Brook resort. Pop and pour. Dark red, enough so that I suspect they slipped some other varietal in (Syrah?) for color. Nose is a very appealing mix of red fruits and funky barnyard (in a good way). Palate is very nicely balanced with ample, but not excessive, acidity. Tannins are muted. Medium finish. Definitely on he earthy side of Pinot. I quite liked it.

Deep red, clear edge, long thin drops. Raspberry, touch of vanilla and red cherry nose. Red cherry, some wood and touch of spice / pepper aroma. Refreshing with a pleasant stucture overall.

Brief impression, one glass only. Pop&pour. Not nearly as impressive as the Assmanshauser Hollenberg GG, but wasn't expecting that either. However, I was hoping for at least some similarities, but I finding only few at the moment. Very drinkable already, but should really be left alone for some time. I believe this has potential and therefore a fair value @ 30euro from guteweine.de

Smoky, earthy, spicy with notes of dark fruit and tar on the nose. On the palate at this stage not very harmonic - drying, a little green and coarse, bright acidity, good fruit. Rather difficult. 87-89?

Tasted at the vineyard. Deep red, clear edge, long thin drops. Nose with vanilla, oak and black cherry. Tastes of blackberry, raspberry, and green apple. Lovely fruit, rounded tannins and pleasant acidity. Ripe but can still be stored.

2013 vintage

Red cherry aromas that cast a shadow. Some wild cherry to the palate. Just a touch of cinnamon spice. Fatness to the palate with angles. Later that day, harmonious mid/- weight old world red fruit and spice. Become friends with this wine.

Fat and rich fruit to the aromas. Has a Folk Machine Vecino Vineyard PN thing going on. Elegant, but all about a generous mouthfeel., with a rhubarb aspect. 80 year old vines. Monks from Vogeuot brought PN to Assmanhaussen in the 12th century. 100% PN in Assmanhaussen, no Riesling.

This wine is August Kesseler's pinot wine he sells for a couple of years under a special Kesseler label and now for a reduced price of €3.99 in the Netto discounter stores in Germany. Grapes are not from the famous Assmannshauser site but from selected wineries in the Pfalz region. Not much wine left in the stores but a great deal if you get the chance to buy. Will see how this develops, no decant just pop and poured this …

Opened one hour in advance. Screwcap. Robust aromas of berry fruit, subtle spice. Delicious cherry/berry flavors up front, rich vanilla and black fruit finish. Fruit forward, with depth and modest complexity. Not profound, and I would prefer more backbone, but it's a delightful wine and a great QPR.

Somewhat smooth, little aftertaste. Very little acidity. Not bold or strong - an easy glass if the price is right.

Pale ruby with garnet shades. The nose is compelling with cranberry, candied cherries and cinnamon along with a distinctive herbal edge reminding me of dill. Vivacious, juicy, zesty and so caressing. Such a good match with the neck of spring lamb from Gotland in Rolfs Kök Restaurant, Stockholm.

I enjoyed this wine. It is a very different style than say, a California Pinot Noir, in fact it reminds me a bit of some Finger Lakes Pinot Noirs. A bit lighter, but nice nose, good if very subtle fruit. Basically, however, while interesting to try if you treasure Pinot Noir many are better.
