Ripe dark fruit. Sour cherries and stables. Still some verility left despite warm storage. Matched nicely to grilled ribeye.

App: dark purple red, almost purple core. Aroma: dark fruit, leather, hanged meat, earth and flowers with a hint of stable. Medium-bodied+ with very good acidity and firm and powerful tannins. Excellent structure. Nice dark fruit on the palate. Very good length with some sweetness in the finish. (90) Still a youthful expression of Aglianico. Very nice indeed, and a classic together with rib of lamb. Will probably mature nicely. Decant or hold. -- D'Angelo Aglianico del Vulture 2006, Basilicata. …

Dark purple inky pour with soft dark fruits on the nose. Full flavored with soft tannins and balanced acidity. Medium weight on the palate with moderate length finish.

A tad oxidized - fig syrup, farine, raisin, burnt notes. Good structure and stuffing, though. One summer too much in warm danish storage?

Drinking well. Complex nose of cherries, figs and herbs. Palate as well with good acidity and tannic structure. A bit angular with a long finish. Fitted well with Penne Puttanesca that had lots of olives, baby tomatoes and anchovy. Lots of compliments from table on wine...food too.

Nice mature nose, dried fruit, leather with some cherries in liqour on top. Not really my cup of tea.

Drinking very well right now - that is, at least the bottle we have been storing in the wine fridge for some time. I would pay attention to the previous CT note warning that this maybe too evolved. On the other hand, for below USD 20, in Stockholm, Sweden, you can't find many well structured, mature, fresh, red wines that pair up so nicely with a full fledged porterhouse steak. As for the aromas and flavor description, I find myself …

This time the structure overpowered the fruit. Tannins a bit drier than previous bottles.

This wine may have been delicious previously, but is seriously over the top now. There are at the moment 35 bottles listed in CT user cellars; they should all be consumed the sooner the better. Some may even find it's too late, unless you find the beginning taste of vinegar unresistable.

Intense nose with dark mature fruit, smoke, leather, marzipan and some alcohol. Great mouthfeel and pleasant fruit all the way. Amazing value in this one, again. The 06 obviously has evolved since my last bottle. An extra dimension towards used gym socks...

2 hrs decant. A red from the Basilicata; don't think we've had that since we were there ten years back, and since it is a well known fact that wine ALWAYS tastes good when you're in Italy that doesn't count. A high quality wine, dark and delicious tobacco and licorice on the nose. Tannins in abundance but of the best kind. Will last but delicious now. We had simple but delicious spaghetti with a garlic and butter sauce.

Dense, intriguing nose; displaying sour cherry and violet components over deep minerality: gunsmoke, pencil lead, graphite, scorched earth, ash, etc. and a hint of some barrel aging. Slight raisined fruit note as well; while there is some fruit, this is a very minerally, earthy wine. On the palate this is medium-plus bodied with gritty, somewhat drying tannins. True to its nose it doesn't deliver much fruit, with sour cherry and vanilla upfront but fading to a smoky, earthy and leathery …

App: Deep dark red Aroma: Cherries, flowers and spices Medium to good body, and very good structure. Beautiful smooth tannins. Dark fruit on the palate with a good touch of minerality and appealing spiciness Very good length I tried this wine for a year ago and think it has improved quite a lot.

Dark red, red rim, 5½. Vinous nose with spicy elements well hidden underneath. Robust taste with firm tannins, really a wine to go with food. The last bottle shall be saved another 5 years.

Decanted. Appearance: dark purple red, almost black core. Aroma: flowers, tar and leather Full-bodied Aglianico with good acidity and firm tannins. Good balance. Sweet cherries on the palate. Good length. I keep coming back to this one. A very nice expression of Aglianico from Basilicata at a very reasonably price. Available already, but will develop nicely in the cellar for some years to come. Cheers!

Deep dark red Cherries and spices, with a touch of violets, on the nose Good body, very good structure and firm tannins. Some earthy notes and mineral on the mid-palate Lingering aftertaste with some bitterness Good value wine, and I guess some years in the cellar will make no harm
