Last tasted in November 2021 and time has helped this to relax. Cabernet Franc qualities remain elusive but this is balance and attractive. Drink well but no rush.

Over-the-Hill Tasting & Dinner (D&L's) : Popped and poured, showing a decent amount of bricking, but a vibrant ruby/crimson core. Somewhat restrained, but with some red berry and cherry fruit elements on the nose and palate. There's a nice herbal streak as well, telltale of the variety. Balanced, with softened acidity. I revisited this after an hour or so, and it developed a lovely floral quality. Quite pretty. Very pleasant, and I think for me, the biggest surprise of the …

Still relatively youthful. Enjoyable enough, but little Cabernet Franc typicity about this for me.

Supposedly the winemaker spent a year with (the great) Bernard Baudry (Chinon) & the families are close... Quick double decant and then poured (cellar temp)...I'm not at all convinced by this (at the moment), I can taste the 14.5 % alcohol, tar like taste, and lacks lift / freshness... will stick it back in the cellar & hope it is more fun tomorrow. I wouldn't think that it was over the hill (drink dates to 2018) but never tried one …

Clear, medium ruby in color. Subtle nose of black cherry, licorice and herbs. Medium body. Smooth tannins. Medium acidity. Sour cherry, tobacco and pepper on the palate. Medium finish. I suspect this has mellowed significantly with age; however it was still excellent with roast pork. A solid CA Cab Franc.

Definitely cab-franc. Herbal, crunchy, red. Seems like this would be a good bistro wine. Serviceable & versatile across a variety of contexts.

Clear, medium ruby in appearance. The nose is clean with medium intensity and notes of red cherry, violet, red plum, tomato leaf, blueberry, vanilla and wet leaves. The palate is dry with medium acidity, medium, fine, somewhat green tannins, medium alcohol, medium (+) body and medium (+) intensity. The flavors match the nose. The finish is medium. Points for balance, complexity and intensity. Very good wine. Ready to drink but might age awhile. Fuller bodied and riper than most Chinons …

shared this with pat at selkirk manor. i am a fan of this producer after having been introduced to them at Novita tasting events. i love the generous nose and dark berry fruit on the palate. medium+ body and finish. nice structure and balance. have to say that i prefer the 2012 to the 2013 although the 2013 may come around with a little more time in the bottle.

Tasty and easy drinking though not very complex. A lot of cherry fruit, a bit of red licorice and just enough pepper to know it's cab franc. A very pleasant drink.

Great Cab Franc. very smooth and quite tasty. If you like 100% cab franc varietal then highly recommended especially for price in the 20's.

Aromas of very light cherry, with a little cassis and olive. The pallete was mostly hot and cedar like. I think this bottle must have seen a little less than perfect storage somewhere in its history. It was ok as long as you have food, but certainly nothing you would want to sip on.

Black pepper and herbs dominate this bottle, and are immediately apparent on both the nose and the palete. It's certainly heavy on savoury flavours - sweet tobacco, tar, meat/game - but has enough red and black fruit to present an enjoyable balance (the tannins and acidity are both at a medium, which makes for a smooth feel). Fair warning: the fruits do take a bit of time to appear after opening!

Nose of cherry, cassis and green olive. Palate of cassis, cherry, raspberry, black olive and sweet spice. For the first hour, there was a hint of green pepper and Brussels sprout in the finish, but that then turned into a hint of something more like cranberry with lychee. Definitely a complex and long finish. The balance is absolutely perfect.

USA Cabernet Masterclass (Rockpool Bar and Grill Sydney) : Colour: Purple, medium minus intensity, some tearing Nose: Medium intensity, leather, funk, red fruit, clove, spice, oak (perhaps some age) - green: stems and leaves that tended towards herbaceousness with time Mouth: leather, green over slight fruit. Medium minus acid and flavour intensity. Creamy, mouth coating texture. Hmm

Showing clear and brilliant deep red color with youthful violet on the edge, the aromatics of this wine are a little darker than previous vintages with black cherry, sage and herbs de province overlaid with a touch of cedar and cigar box scents. The wine hits the palate in a smooth flow of that black cherry and smooth tannins making this a rich but easily quaffable wine. The attributes are best displayed if the wine is served cool to the …

A marked improvement over the last couple of vintages, this vintage provides a solid, medium bodied wine with classic floral, vegetal, dark berry flavors of Cabernet Franc, with hints of licorice and spice. Quite nice.

This wine was party wine many months ago for my son's birthday and everybody enjoyed. We picked it since we enjoyed lang & reed cab franc for last several years. Now, we tried again. I had a bit of a cold, but still felt the black fruit on the nose and very nice and long acidity on the moth as well as nicely balanced medium weight body with nice structure.

On first opening raspberry, lavender and stone. It was tough to drink and slightly harsh. So I gave it till today to retry. The harshness is gone but it seems a little flat, a true dilemma with no favorable outcome. I appreciate what this wine tries to do but for a similar expenditure I have had better luck with Joguet or Breton.

Had a bit of top layer alcohol until decanted for about 30 minutes. Developed into a good jammy candied bouquet, but lacking in depth on the palette. Passable, but honestly prefer Loire Valley CF! Nothing compares...

A: Light to medium body. N: Austere Bordeaux-like nose of dust, lead pencil, dark fruits, and oak. T: Charcoal, tobacco, dust, and a little sweetness on the midpalate. F: Good tannic grip with a tiny bit of sourness; this will make your mouth pucker. The tannins will coat your mouth even after having softened up with more time spent in the glass. Not much flavor on the short finish, but a lingering sweetness. Overall: At half the price of the …

Even though this is supposed to be crafted in the style of a Loire Valley Chinon, it's much closer to what one would expect from a California Cabernet Franc. It's a medium bodied wine with noticeable oak on the nose (in fact, this needed to breath a little to loose that new oak smell), and with a very short lived palate of red and sour cherries; slightly dry, and with noticeable tannins in the mouth, but with no secondary notes …

This has been sitting in my cellar for a while and just never seemed to have a good time to open it till tonight. Deep ruby color with no bricking but throwing plenty of dirt. Nose was tight with some earthy loam dominating. The palate had subdued dark red fruit with mostly flavors of meat and earth with briar and cinnamin. Slight brettyness with an almost Grenache like mouth feel (that sort of tingling spice that I associate with Grenache …
