AP 23 06. Interestingly enough, the AP number differs from the version Fisch and Rayer reviewed (24 06). This GK bottling sports the Trier Versteigerung sticker and was purchased from a reputable auction house, but I'm still curious about the discrepancy. Bottling number aside, this is stunningly rich. So much botrytis it practically reeks of cinnamon and Chinese five spice. The flavor pungency suggests a beerenauslese (more concentrated even than the 2006 Berkasteler Badstube Beerenauslese from the same vendor) although …

Salil and I celebrate : Wow. On the pop and pour this was already showing remarkable signs of complexity. After an hour, it was rocking on all cylinders. My note can't really do this wine justice so I'll just say that this is the best wine I've ever tasted.

Words fail. There's no way to properly catalogue the array of aromatics here - an array of tart/fresh citrus and sweeter dried fruits, honey, more exotic spicy, floral, and smoky notes, and god only knows what else. The complexity here is off the charts and the palate is just incredible - so intense and piercing, yet so light on its feet with tremendous acidity that makes it feel electric. Somehow this manages to feel really powerful and delicate at the …

AP#13-92. From 375ml. Dinner at Bida Manda with Mom for Dena's birthday. Not much to say different from my previous note other than to say this was missing just the slightest bit of acidity to earn the elusive perfect score. It's splitting hairs really as this rarity was incredibly delicious. 50+15+15+10+9=99

Dinner at Bolt. AP#13-92. From 375ml. Dark orange in the glass and an effusive nose. Apricots, pluots and a woodsy truffle-like aroma dominate the nose. On the palate the flavors follow and the entry is massive like a tsunami hitting the senses. Wonderful depth and concentration to the fruit mixes with acidity that makes sure every nook and cranny of the mouth are coated. The back palate and finish move from massive to almost delicate. Only a trick Prum can …

Boys' lunch (The Ledbury, London) : Brown, and in some ways mellow in the way the flavours have resolved, but of course this is uber-intense - very special
