Domaine de la Louvetrie (Landron & Fils) Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Haute Tradition

Intense and remarkably ‘deep’ nose of yellow apples, pears, peaches and nectarines. Sharp acidity on the palate balanced well with yellow fruits and hints of melon and pineapple. Lees notes clear on the nose and palate, with butter and pastry flavours present to balance and add complexity with the fruit. Acidity cuts through these flavours and lasts with some astringency/oiliness. Unexpectedly intense and developed fruit and drinking well with acidity as the primary aspect of this Melon B!

Most interesting. Before this product I had never considered Muscadets as anything other than good value for basic but pedigreed French plonk. However, last year while in Angers a friend of mine who was in the trade spoke highly about recent improvements in Muscadet, and a friendly caviste there strongly recommended this to me.
