Baking spices. Nicely integrated and very engaging.

Like Wineshaman's note. Brandy, plummy fruit, wood. Medium sweet with long finish. Rewarding at this price point. Yum. Only issue is balance which will improve with air. Should gain a point or two. From a 750.

Cinnamon, star anise, currants, dark rum, plums. Very light bodied in comparison to other port I’ve had. Fun, but not great

Decanted 3 hours, lovely port, balanced brandy notes with classic dark fruit, very rich, smooth, tannins & RS completely integrated. All I could asked for in a semi aged medium house port. From a .375 bottle!

Sammamish Port Club - February 2019 (Sammamish, Washington) : Dark purple in color. Opaque except for some slight lightening on the very edges Light-bodied with medium red fruit on the palate. The medium-long finish is full of flavor with cherry and currant.

Drank a bottle early to check the development. Still mostly primary and highly concentrated. Drink then next bottle in 10 years....5 years at the earliest.

OK- not great. Only owned bottle for 2 years. This had topped - to my taste. Opened together with a 1985 which was far better in aftertaste length and balance. Quite alcoholic & nutty with short aftertaste. No real remains of that velvety feel. Decanted and sampled every hour, first 8 hours - no significant difference. Better composition the following day, but not an absolute joy.

A Nice Saturday Dinner in Oakville with Family Friends : Showing just a bit of development, though this still came across quite youthful to me. Nose is of prunes, dried plums, dried cherries, hints of toasted walnuts and brown sugar. Still focused mostly on the deep ripe fruit. The palate similarly enters on sweet ripe fruit with a good sugar/acid/alcohol balance and just the slightest secondary aromas poking out. Young but quite enjoyable.

Commanderie de Bordeaux: 2004 Horizontal (Market at Shangri-La - Vancouver, BC) : Decanted for 3 hours. Super spicy on the nose showing plenty of baking spices, clove, and black pepper. Softer with more sweetness on the palate, with rich black cherries and tons more clove spice towards the back end. Gripping palate, spicy and delicious. A nice cap to the evening. No rush to drink these up. Good+

This seems a bit past mature judging by color alone as it tends towards more of a brownish red. Decanted about 5-6 hours (a long meal). Very tasty nonetheless. Sweet, dried plums, figs and raisins. Was fading the next day, but still drinkable after a few days. (Update - It really isn't brownish red. My light was bad. I poured another glass after this post. It is ruby/garnet with paling at the edges. Similar taste)

Deep dark center, red rim with some signs of age. Licorice, black plums, blackberries, tar, roast meat, alcohol. Smooth at first then some acidity and tannin, slightly dirty wood, followed by cherries and raspberries, some obvious alcohol, good length of lighter red fruit, wood more integrated on the finish. Better than expected, good fruit, the slightly dirty wood detracts, still a good acid and tannin backbone. Drinks okay now, but will last for a few more years.

Light to medium brick red. It still had some alcohol bite after fours hours of a double decant. The wine is a little tart, with cherry and dark chocolate flavors. Not as good of a bottle compared to the last. Somewhat disjointed.

Dallas 2nd Wednesday Group - August 2012 - In Memory of David White (Suze, Dallas, Texas) : WIML87 Tasted non blind. Dark garnet color in the glass, fairly clear looking. Nose is a bit hot showing notes of Kirsch, Armagnac and a little graphite of all things. Flavors of berries, light notes of currants and sweet plums. Medium acidity, full bodied. Drink or hold.

Very good: consumed over three evenings and served cool. Nice and sweet: a perfect "summer" port.

Very nice. A 3 hour decant and then consumed over 2 hours. Something of a surprise: a wonderfully sweet, voluptuous style but lacking the tannic backbone you'd expect. In short, beautiful on the surface but without much depth.

This bottle had a base neck fill and the cork was clearly failing on one side. Upon initial decanting, the alcohol heat was very evident and the wine was quite sweet, with great fruit showing. The color was brick red with a bit of browning. After 5 hours in the decanter, the alcohol had calmed down considerably. The sweetness had also reduced a bit and the wine had a dry finish very much like a typical Dow port. A very …

Decanted and poured, black licorice, anise in the nose, the black licorice continue onto the palate with black plums and blackberries. Still young but drinkable, with this bottle showing a little too much licorice/anise for my taste. 89+

Decanted for 5 hrs .375ml vanilla, dark chocolate, black plums and carmel throughout the nose and palate. Just a touch of sweetness and a little heat, but not overpowering. Great way to end christmas day.

Drank as the last wine in a 10 bottle tasting club. It was the only port of the night, almost. It is drinking nicely and is a nice overall port. Later, we grabbed 2 ports that had been open over 6 weeks. A Fonseca and a Graham, both 97s. The 97s, although open for some time, stole the spotlight from the Offley. The Offley was a late addition to the tasting and was opened an poured without the benefit of …

375ml. I do not drink much port in the summer, however made an exception in this case, because of an uncontrollable craveing. Decanted for 4 hrs in cellar 54 degrees, served with gorgozola and fresh roasted walnuts and was rewared with a nectar of carmel, vanilla, plum and sweet chocolate that went on and on.This port is a medium ager that will be at its peak in 5 to 10 yrs and plateau for 20yrs+.
