I found this bottle quite disappointing. Nose didn't give much, but had aromas of bell pepper, white pepper, and orange peel. The body was lacking. No backbone.

Flowers, huckleberries, pink cherries, raw meat and a hint of game. Then fresh herbs, sage, thyme, garrigue, a hint of pine and white pepper all embraced by a cool clarity recalling a spring day in early May after rain. I have to admit that I looked at the price of this wine when I really should have been looking at the year. This wine is not ready to drink although when it is, I think it will be quite nice. Mostly heat on the nose. Pepper and jammy red fruits on the palate. Strong tannins to age for at least a few years. Decanting for a few hours has helped soften it a bit, but really, this probably shouldn't …

Dark red. The nose is everything I love in a Northern Rhone. Bacon, charcoal, blueberry, cassis and pepper. The flavours however are pretty one dimensional red fruit. The finish is very bracing to say the least. My guess is the grapes come from some young vines or the terroir just isn't that great. This seems like a very promising area for Syrah.

I almost feel like I'm drinking a barrel sample with this. The nose has a floral anise quality, and the palate follows; green peppercorn, thyme, wild flowers, under-ripe blackberries, black jelly bean and fennel fronds. Odd stuff. It's not ready for drinking. Five days later, the palate softens and plumps up, with a touch of peppery, smoky dark fruit, and the green edge is gone. ...can't wait to see what time will bring.

Dark but not opaque ruby colour. Green pepper and herbal on the nose. Medium bodied and silky on the palette. Perfect ripeness for me ... more of an elegant syrah to me than a dense one. This wine is so damn good. Very similar to the 2006. Massive amounts of black pepper. Has a meatiness to it as well. Gained depth throughout the night. Although it did become a little heavy on the last glass. Could use a touch more acidity and refreshness. This is being a little nit picky, because we're talking a cote-rotie look alike here at half the price. Just a real yummy bottle.

This was a very fun bottle of wine. The dominating trait is easily black pepper. One person said it was like someone grinding a pepper grinder voer your face. Another described it as liquid pepper. I would have sworn it was something from N. Rhone, and probably Cote Rotie. Which is amazing considering the price of this bottling. Dark red and opaque. Inky. Very fresh and ripe black fruit. Plums, blueberries, black raspberries and some red raspberries. Definitely a bit of a metallic almost blood-like flavor. Very nice and very satisfying. Soft tannins. Won't last for long so drink up!
