Based on 2013/2014 deg 2019 July. Very good. Great balance. Acidity, red apples, pineapple and some toffe. The years in the cells has been good for this bottle.

Based on 2014/2015, deg 2020. Very well balanced between acidity and fruit. Lots of exotic fruit, chalk and wet stone. Could lay for another 5 years I believe

Great producer. Mineral nose and palate. Some flowers and additional complexity when it opens up. Adequate acidity to support the thickness of the wine. The wine was disgorged in June 2022. It feels still sort of thick, dense and it would benefit from another 6 months in the bottle but it is already very consumable (contrary to his reserve les belles voyes 2014, which is woody and needs a couple of years). Pure Chardonnay, blend of vintages 2016 and 2017.

Loads of freshly squeezed lemon and crushed stone minerality plus French bread, dried mint, and lime zest. Medium body with limited bubbles in the glass and a fine mousse in the mouth that survives texturally through the long finish. The acid is very present, but avoids being sharp. It has great balance on that front. Flavors include lemon and lime sorbets, light cream, slate, mint, cumin, and honey. After two hours green apple shows up and starts to dominate. It …

What a wonderful wine. On the nose, there’s a deep yeasty richness, undercut with subtle floral notes. On the palate, it’s creamy with notes of peach and a slight hint of vanilla and spice. Great value for a grand cru growers champagne, that is absolutely drinkable now, but should age wonderully too. Worth picking up if you can.

240 flasker kom til Norge. 2014 og 2015. Kjeks, gjær, kalk og eple. Kanskje sitrus. Aromaen går igjen i munnen. God, men mangler litt på konsentrasjon. God mineralsk utgang.

Disgorged 2020, 100% Avize Chardonnay, 9.17 g/L dosage. Citrusy/white flower flavors, but lacking heft and concentration. Tthis showed rather sweet and lemon/lime soda-ish to me; too much dosage relative to the acid and concentration for my taste. A bottle of this cuvee a few months ago was similarly unimpressive. I enjoyed the Bonville Rose more.

On the pop, this was a touch woody, but after 30 min, singing. Lovely, completely mature BdB. Tropical fruits, honey, soft vanilla. On the palate: lovely acidity, maybe a touch over-dry, but fantastic density and length.

Opened up to clean of the horrible Chateauneuf du Pape we tried tonight. This did the job very well (this time a full size 750 bottle, as this was absolutely needed to cleanse away the CndP) Floral and airy nose, apples, bread and minerals. Some nuts and a touch more development than in previous bottles starting to show. Fat creamy chalk and good acidity with apples and lime. Fine length with balanced dosage. Very solid and enjoyable.

Dinner with Herald & Teni (Our House, Hong Kong) : Deep gold colour but still has a big mousse and generous and persistent streams of lively small bubbles. Nose is distinctly toasted Hovis bread, Palate is is really toasty rye bread, high acidity and a dry chalky finish. Gets much toastier with extended time in the glass and gets much headier and reverberant on the finish. Got even better with scallops and langoustine with sweet corn purée srarter. A polar …

Very much the sharp brut style which at times can come across as racy (which I like) but in this case came across more sharp edges. It was pretty tight. Suspect maybe a bit of time could have helped it, but not familiar enough with this producer or wine to know that that is true. Wasn't worth the price tag on this drinking.

Blended with 2014-2015 vintage 100% Chardonnay based champagne from Avize Disgorged February 2020 Dosage quite high at 9.17g/l Bouquet of honey. Palate of quince, lemon and honey with a soft mouthfeel; a rich and creamy champagne with brioche undertones. Short finish but nevertheless a very nice, understated but quite elegant champagne. I find this a pleasant alternative to some of the big sometimes overbearing Bruts from some of the major champagne houses. Paired well with risotto with scallops.

Half bottle - great stuff! Very pure and floral. Nose is oozing with white flowers, citrus, minerals, almonds and a touch sea spray. Palate with citrus fruits - creamy and long with fine acidity and chalky minerals. A bit like a fat Chablis with bubbles.

Friday Dinner at Friends' House (Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong) : A littly 'flat' on opening and pouring. Medium hay-gold. Nose is creme brulee without the brulee, crisp red apple, not much brioche. Palate is wow... rich and slightly oxidative, loads of umami, nicely petillante on the tongue, good depth and richness. Quite smoky. Nice moderate resonance on the finale alongside a chalky dryness. Faded quickly in the glass. Definitely needs drinking up.

Disgorged February 2020, 2014-2015 base. Upon opening, unmistakable aromas of durian, in a pleasant but not stinky way. Aromas shifted over the night, never quite settling, tropical fruit, nuts, San Francisco sourdough, and quince to name a few. On the palate, more of the same, very vinous and substantial in mouthfeel and presentation. 9 g/l dosage is high and definitely noticeable but very interesting in conjunction with the durian-esque fruit. By the end of the night it began to taste …

Very distinctive mature chardonnay nose. A lot of mature exotic and stone fruits: ripe pineapple, mango, guava, peaches and nectarines, apricots; a gentle spice infusion with clove and some pepper; black tea with a herbal touch, bergamot and orange blossom; candlewax and wet stones; wholewheat cookies and fresh bread, fresh cream and fresh butter, some toasted mixed nuts and a caramel-like finish with light oxidation. Creamy texture and delicate bubbles, moderate acidity. I like the full range of this producer …

Have to agree with steffenpelz note on this wine. For the price this 100% based chardonnay champagne punches well above it's price point. Small bead. Great structure and balance. Long acidic finish. Wonderful way to start a night with friends. Back the truck up for this one!

Surprisingly mature, even though the bottle has been stored in a relatively cool cellar. This was my last bottle, but if i had more, i would not keep them much longer. Decent, inexpensive and relatively simple vintage BdB.

Ripe lemon, apple, smoke and bready autolysis on the nose. Rather dry medium bodied palate with zesty acidity, wide - slightly heavy - moussé and ripe fruit: lemon and orange to red apple and peach. Salty leesiness and bready toast character. Quite lengthy with minerality, ryebread and salt liquorice. Very nice. More about youthful power than elegance. Dosage seems low. Good potential for cellaring.

A very tasty Blanc de Blancs. 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay from the village of Avize, this is sternly structured, and shows the somewhat typical citrus, apple peel and baked bread characteristics that I love about BdBs. Fine mousse, solid finish, and lovely acidity. It held up well against many more famous BdBs. One to buy a bunch of at the very modest $40 price tag.

A really beautiful blanc de blanc. Classic Chardonnay with great minerality. No overly-tart lemon that I find is too many BdB's. Drinks well young but I think it will benefit from at least a couple more years of age, and will reward those who can lay it down for a decade.
