Another nod to the quality of this wine, 16yo and it's still doing great, cork was in good shape and probably would have held for quite a few more years. I'd never have expected this to be a 20 year capable sort of wine ; can't say it transformed into anything different with age, just good balanced red wine, to enjoy whenever. This has been my favorite widely available california cabernet, and it didn't let me down at all with …

It should have past its drinking window by many years, still quite dark color and still lively with a nice bouquet of red berries and taste of cherries and chocolate. Medium after taste. A nice surprise, I taught it would have past its prime with many years but it was not the case. A nice experience !

So dark in colour and so concentrated. It is not subtle or elegant but just so impressively big and balanced. The idea of it being 12.5% is an utter joke but otherwise way, way better than I expected.

It stayed in the cellar for 11 years... It was pleasantly middling, but otherwise without distinction. I'm glad it survived without spoiling in the cellar.

Not an overly complex wine. Consumed long after drink window but tasted raspberry and chocolate. Solid but unspectacular.

Whoa. There was still life in our bottle! The color was deep purple. Rich and fruity. The nose was full of cedar. Berry on the front, a twist of fig on the end. A pleasant surprise!!

from Paso Robles, 13.5% alcohol, appears to be composite cork, heavy foil, medium to long legs; a surprisingly light red/brown color, nose of fruit, especially cherries, and alcohol; vinturied and left open for about 30 minutes before tasting at ca 18 degrees C; although we had intended to open this wine at least 5 years ago, the extra aging has done no harm; still, if you have this vintage, drink it now; an excellent wine, considering its modest price, full-bodied, …

Notes of plum on the nose, paired well with a sirloin steak. This one seems to be in a tweener state right now. It was much better 15 months ago, and I think it needs to be aged another year or two at this point.

Perfectly aged, this wine is spectacular right now. Intense, highly complex flavors yet somehow also remarkably smooth.

I can’t believe I am giving this a high rating. Traditionally, this has not been one of my favorite Cabs, but always decent for the discounted price. Since we are trying to go through our old wines and cull them out, I opened the bottle expecting to find it was ready to pour out. Imagine my surprise when it looked good and tasted even better. I do not know what happened to the wine, since this is one that has …

Really drinking well now. Would not hold any longer, if I had any more left. Medium body, just a hint of oak remains, well balanced with a decent finish. Enjoy!

The J Lohr Seven Oaks Cab is a good middle of the road Cabernet. It has a pleasant nose, and good flavor. This is in my daily drinker section of my cellar. Something you could take to your friends house and enjoy. Not expensive but very enjoyable for the money.

Much better than my previous attempt at this wine. Still only okay. Alcohol and fruit is a fair descriptor; however, fairly balanced. No real complexity.

The wine looks Garnet colored. The legs are Medium. It smells like Strawberry, Sandalwood, and Vanilla. It tastes like Black Pepper, Raisin, and Forest floor.

Shocked at how decent this was--wasn't expecting much if anything. It's definitely lost some stuffing, and there's not much on the nose, but it has some presence on the palate, a little boysenberry, cocoa, a little cabernet depth. I'm grading this on a curve, no doubt, but points for durability and for being more than just a cellar pruning.

I like this wine, it's nothing special, not worth the $21 in Ontario considering all the great imports you can get for $5 less, but it's really tasty - Dark, fulll bodied with a nose of blackfruit, mocha, spice and vanilla, smooth, big yet not too over the top at 13.5%, sweet on the palate with good length (87 Points).

From half bottle. Nice fruity nose with cherries, spices and later raisin. Full bodied with medium acidity. Lots of fruit with chocolate and vanilla in the mouth. Concentrated, a bit rustic with slightly tannic, but fruity, finish. Enjoyable by itself and certainly with steak.
