Domaine Vacheron Sancerre

What can I expect when it's 5 years past the end of it's drinking window. This was not drinkable.

My last bottle of 2 cases-- nose of white grapefruit and lime zest, palate of grapefruit, candied lime and good acidity. Slightly sweet mid-palate but not confected. Fruit not as focused as it was, say, 1-2 years ago. Drink up.

Nice wine, grapefruit and some grass in the nose, chalky mineral and some limon flavors. Still fresh acidity, and very drinkable. Maybe at a peak?

Elegant and clean. Lots of lemon lime acidity and a creamy finish - think light lemon custard.

($20) Steely grapefruit and lime zest. Bracing. Good.

($20) Blind Frenchie's at Momo's: Blind white 3 - lime, a whiff of Irish Spring soap, talc, minerals, grapefruit. Deceptive balance of sweet citrus fruit and acidity on the palate. Lemon lime fruit. Yummy Sauvignon Blanc.

This bottle was very nice but not up to the level of prior ones. Lots of grapefruit on the nose and palate, some ash and minerals, very cutting, very quenching.

When this wine is very cool the nose is mostly lemon and grapefruit with some stone elements. However, as it warms the grass, minerals and ash start pouring out of the glass. The palate is clean, razor-like, precise, very intense, with a long finish. This has incredible balance and focus with impressive acidity. This is no simple quaffer, it is elegant and complex for such a young wine. What a remarkable expression of a grape, truly impressive.

Seattle Tasting Group does Pinot Noir (Olympia, WA, USA) : This wine was a revelation for me, as I don't drink much Sauvignon Blanc and even less Sancerre. This has a memorable, distinct nose of ash, mineral, and freshly cut grass. On the palate this was amazingly crisp, grassy and lively. The finish on this was tart, refreshing and incredibly long. Perhaps it was the heat that made it stand out, but this was about as good as it gets, …

($20) Really awesome showing for this wine. Grass, chalk, and minerals with wonderful ripe, sweet fruit coupled with lots of acidity that keeps things lively. Like it. This would shame some expensive other Loire whites.
