Tobacco nose, also a little smoky oak. In the mouth, faded red fruit flavors are overcome by oak and tobacco. Slightly green and astringent tannin greet you on the finish. While other 2011 Beringer single vineyard Cabernets have been great, this Howell mountain rendition is showing the weak vintage. Drink now with a decant. You could try to hold hoping that the tannin meld, but you are risking a wine devoid of fruit.

Dried fruit, dusty herbs, stone, earth tones, licorice, mocha lead to a full-bodied wine that shows subtle sweetness but finishes big and round, smooth and dry. Tannins are present but mellowing. Decanted for 2hrs. Terrific wine.

Smak: Dag 1 väldigt fruktdrivet, nästan sötfruktigt, med det balsamiska som enda komplement. Dag 2 mer balanserad frukt som är mindre "in your face". Starts out tight and mean, slowly releasing deep Cab aromas of blackcurrant, wet leaves, damp cool earth. Medium plus bodied on the palate, excellent structure with black fruit, acidity, dusty tannin, integrated oak. Finishes well, in balance. Has that green almost salty feeling of a young Cab. And the cooler vintage has made for a leafy, leaner green Napa Cab that is refreshingly restrained. Excellent stuff.

Plum, blackberry jam, cassis, cedar and hints of sweet fruit aromas. Medium-bodied with sweet, ripe fruit on the palate. Very fruit-forward with red and dark fruit flavours, with oak undertones. Tannins are a bit chalky, but otherwise well-integrated. Off-dry with a short finish. Not your typical, big, dry Cali Cab. Easy drinker.
