Le Vieux Pin Roussanne

10+ yr on, and this is rich amber, nose is ripe stone fruit and touch of honey. Palate shows a mature profile with ripe apricot, nuttiness, and a beautiful buttery mouthfeel. Longish finish. It has aged gracefully.

Very rich yellow colour with low plus optical density and very high specular reflectivity. The nose is gorgeous, with cream, bright stone and tree fruits, and some light citrus character. Very rich and with medium complexity. The palate shows bright acidity, with a full body and a plush texture that is steely and polished. Flavours on the attach are of cream-infused green apple, not-yet-ripe pear, and a touch of nutmeg spice. The midpalate shows some wet but sun-baked stone and …

Interesting but not memorable. Not very aromatic, not very complex, the texture is very round and fat...almost oily, certainly because of the "batonnage". Can be cellared for a few more years.

Green apples behind the smell of cork... yeasty dry down of the edges, quite a shame because it's delicious.

Tart and tight. Green fruits and citrus overlayed with butter, followed by grass and herbaciousness. I found with numerous tastings over a few days it seemed to bounce back and forth between the fruity and herbal notes. The proper hints are all there, but have yet to fully present themselves. It's definitely still young; given some time I think this wine could really develop (and has potential to be something pretty fantastic!). Good thing I have another bottle tucked away....
