Dark red center, red rim with a little sign of age. A bit sweet on the nose, with weedy cabernet fruit, some plums, roasted fruit, blueberries. Smooth, red currants, grassy cabernet, Bordeaux like, good acidity and smooth tannin, nice green pepper and cherry finish. Needs time to open up. Probably a divisive wine, even for a Bordeaux fan it'll feel very narrow and vegetal. Good if you like that kind of thing (I do). Old style northern Italy.

Similar to last bottle in that it was a mix between old and new world. Earth, tobacco, dark fruit, dried leaves, cocoa, with a bit of oak. Medium weight.

Total impulse buy based solely on price. PnP, waited an hour after being opened then consumed over the next 3 hours. Nose of earth, tobacco, dried leaves, and sandalwood. Taste showed a lot of dried leaves, dark fruit, cocoa on the back end and overall fairly elegant. Very pleasant.

Lovely suppleness, olives, savory. Day2 Tart freshness, rounded and rich.

A very beguiling blend from a venerable Venetian producer. Bordeaux-style blend of Cab. Sauv., Merlot, Cab. Franc and Malbec, which seems to be more merlot-driven in this vintage. Beautiful balance and elegance and very food friendly. Drink now or in the next couple of years; given the muted fruit and tannins, I don't think it will improve with age, although it is likely to evolve nicely. .

another one of those situations where you should ignore the waiter's wine advice... this was too young, but more than that it was not particularly interesting. The Bordeaux blend north of Venice sounded like it had something interesting to offer, as being a Bordeaux with an Italian twist... not so much. It had perfectly acceptable, decent fruit and character but no more - so neither the succulent fruit of a Bordeaux nor the funky character of a good Italian wine. …
