Domaine Champet Côte-Rôtie Les Fils à Jo

Vinetasters: Young Northern Rhône (Chicago, IL) : Served double blind. Hint of brett on the nose, but with more syrah-like fruit here. Quite savoury again on the palate, with the fruit not as prominent as the colour of the wine would hint. Modest but drying tannins on the finish, and there is a distinct imbalance of flavour on the palate, with more acidity than fruit. Herbaceous green notes emerge with more air, too. My 11th, group's 3rd.

Densely pigmented - opaque black at core cinnamon and black pepper and blood/iron/heme and faint fresh underripe raspberry/cherry aromas and flavors- all in admirable concentration on a bed of fine grained drying tannins and tart acids. A keeper - look forward to revisiting this every other year for the next couple decades

Purplish red wine. Notes of dark fruits, earthiness, peppercorns, and fresh flowers on the nose. High acidity and high tannins. Mild notes of oak on the palate too. Medium+ finish. Delicious wine
