Donatella Cinelli Colombini Rosso di Montalcino

PnP. Garnet with pink edge in color. Nose of cherry liqueur, sweet tobacco, rose water and vanilla. On the palate: sour cherries, sweet tannins, rose water and vanilla. Creamy smooth tannins are nonetheless grippy; perceived on gums, cheeks and tongue. Long finish of sour cherries, vanilla and sandalwood. Wine does seem to be evolving and if I can wait, it will be interesting to see what its like in 5-10 more years.

Good quality with soft fruit and integrated tannins. A little to acidic for me.

Clean and pure, a little too much acidity (how much has been added?), but will come together in 6-12 months.

PnP. Dark garnet with purple hue and dark red edge in color. Nose of luxardo cherries, red licorice and rose water. On the palate: cherry liquer, sweet tobacco & baking spice. Fine grained tannins are well integrated already, perceived on gums and cheeks. Long finish of cherry, caramel, vanilla, red berries, red apple skin and woodspice. Very soft with low tannin. Food friendly, mild red fruit. Moderate body and finish. Early drinker.
