Leuta Nautilus Toscana IGT

Medium Ruby on the glass. Deep plumb, tobacco, and some funk (Brett?) On the nose. Medium plus body, good acidity, from ne-grained tannins. Medium-length aftertaste. I wanted to like this wine, but I just can't get there. It certainly does not taste particularly Italian.

Leuta Tasting : Nose shows savory spices and herbs over top of juicy black cherries. Plump texture, velvety, moderating acidity. Plums and black cherries mix with coffee, cedar, vanilla, some underlying herbal and mineral tones. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah.

33% Sangiovese, 33% Syrah and 33% Merlot--big super Tuscan blend--that works very well. Big wine--the rave of our Xmas party. I brought two from Dennis at the vineyard and will wait a few years to drink the other one.
