Restaurant list purchase. Red fruit, subtle spice, and game. Well integrated tannins. Took 30min from PnP to integrate. Went lovely with quail stuffed gumbo, roasted boar and smoked duck. An exceptional example of a village wine done well!

This wine was phenomenal, elegant balanced with forest floor red fruit and minerality

These wines are just amazing. Too bad they’re unobtanium. Beautiful nose and insane intensity on the palate. Piercing red and dark berries, real Vosne spice, and some emerging depth. Huge but not heavy. Crazy what Leroy can do with a villages. A privilege to taste.

The 09 Genaivrieres has a translucent light ruby/deep pink rim, a colour we normally associate with older Pinot Noir. Interestingly quite common in the younger vintage of Domaine Leroy I’ve come across. Gorgeous bouquet of ripe black cherry, intensely fragrant rose petals and exotic spices (that many Burgundy drinkers crave for in the finest Pinot Noir), cloves and underbrush. Sweet ripe fruits with graceful tannins, exquisite aromas and wonderfully satisfying finish. Equally as delicious the 99 Genaivrieres served next to …

Leroy Vosne Romanee 2009 Nice lunch with a good friend at a Tel Aviv restaurant. P&P. The wet cork .. On the nose rose petal, very floral, plenty of red fruit, pepper and hints of spices. Palate medium body, refined, smooth and velvety, pleasant acidity and beautifully balanced. Great fun.

January 2020 Vosne Village Tasting: Double decanted for an hour and drank over 3 hours in glass. Universally the WOTN. Dark, brooding and sappy with excellent lift and and long seamless finish. Damp forest pine notes and all spice. This was special. I can't see any way this does not have Grand Cru fruit in it. An absolute baby in it's lifespan but definitely can be drunk now for those liking them young. It has everything in proportion beautifully. A …

During a Paulee dinner, so only brief impressions. Lots of wild aromas here, whole cluster, forest floor, complex. 96

Reductive, coffee aromatics. Sweet, sappy palate. This needs a couple more years in bottle. (3254/3405)

It was the 4th btl we opened in 3 months. Opened and poured in the btl but the aroma came out the best in two hours. A very simple PN but overpriced.

Pnp, bottle had old seepage (typical of Leroy?), in he name of seeing if the wine suffered any torture, the cork is pulled. Color is medium dark ruby. Nose has abundant of red fruits, floral and hint of spice. Good extraction, distinct acidity blend nicely with sweet fruits that lingers. Easily a premium cru level of wine in other top domaines, sadly a price to match as well.

Pinot Noir and some Champagne (Restaurant Brunnenstube, Beinstein) : Clear, medium ruby-garnet color. Clean, medium intense nose with some brett, herbs and oak. Quite deep. Dry, lots of oak, sweet, ripe fruit, herbs and spices. A bit massive on the palate with some pressure and grip, but with a surprisingly short and immediate finish. 13%abv and partially a bit hot. 90-91. Heavily overpriced and overcharged though.

Volodya’s Birthday with Vosne-Romanée (Tre Bicchieri, Moscow) : 92+/100 Leroy is too young and full of ripe and sweet sugar beet. Too many berries and too much vigor. I’d wait for another 15 years, for this Sugar Buddha to awaken. Volodya Basov’s Birthday at Tre Bicchieri / 20 April 2018

Weekend of food and wine; 4/13/2017-4/16/2017 (Las Vegas) : Very powerful nose, really a lot going on here, gamey red fruit, some floral undertones, still very youthful. Palate shows great complexity, precision and balance. This was a real treat and very much enjoyed, would love to see the development with some more time in the cellar. 96+

Animale and complex nose of rose petals, stems, Asian spices, and wood. Missing the sweetness of the Boudots, as the fruit does not support the higher acidity. Possesses lots of energy and the aromatics alone are worth the admission price, but this is not at the level of the Boudots or Beaux Monts.

Leroy #11 purple/orange in colour, not totally clear. Open and early mature, lighter nose, fudge, dark cherries.

There’s some reduction on the nose but also tremendous lift of floral, sappy spice. It is incredibly complex with notes of boysenberry, cranberry, blackberry and aniseed. The texture is creamy and supple but the whole package crackles with energy and has great balance.

Domaine Leroy Cellar Visit and Tasting (Vosne-Romanee) : Barrel tasting at Domaine Leroy. Reductive nose, so a bit challenging to fully assess today, showing some red fruit and floral hints. Great spice on palate showing clove and nutmeg, alongside bright red fruit that has great length and finesse.
