I opened to prove a point that I sadly won. 2011 was a bad vintage for almost any Napa Cab. My guests were enjoying the 2012 AO To Kalon and the 2013 AO Dr. Crane (easily WOTN) when the comment was made that the 2011's were showing much better with age. I bought very little, but had this bottle and it was flat and never opened up. It is easily drinkable, but not up to the standards of other vintages …

Tasted on the property. Lots of bramble and dark fruit on the nose. The palate is exploding with fruit flavors of black currant, blackberry, and dark cherry. Really grippy tannins and nicely rounded out with moderate acidity. Always enjoy the Stagecoach vineyard and this is no exception. Would be best with a nice steak or other meat to cut through tannins.

Decanted for one hour. Nose of blackberry, black cherry, currant, cedar, milk chocolate and dried herbs. Black cherry, blackberry, cedar, baker’s chocolate, dried herbs and fine tannins on the palate. Long finish with good depth. Full bodied. Very nice wine for the vintage. Served with herb encrusted rack of lamb.

Very tight and opened more and more over 3 hours. Not the best year, but still a wonderful wine. Rich color and great nose, but not as ful and smooth as 2010 or 2012.

Soft luscious tannins. Like velvet in your mouth. Muted fruit but it is 11 years old. Goes down so smooth like it’s begging for a straw. More of an acid finish that keeps going longer than the actual fruit. Very good but I feel like this bottle was a year or 2 too late.

Decanted for one hour. Nose of black raspberry, currant, cedar, black olive, baker’s chocolate and spice. Red and black fruit, chocolate, cedar and spice on the palate. Very long finish. Full bodied. Very good for the vintage. Served with filet Béarnaise.

Aging Great, tannins are softening, pulling in some of the dark fruit, with some leather, cocoa and a little spice.

Good, not great. I like the later vintages of AO To Kalon better. The dark fruit was slightly muted in taste and the finish somewhat harsh.

Color of dark red. Scents of blackberry and currant. Tastes were consistent with scents. Medium smooth tannins.

Probably would be better decanted, full bodied, dark berries, smooth long finish.

Decanted and remained tight and tart for over an hour. Never returned to taste it after.

14.1% ABV. A one hour decant helped to bring to the front aromas of red cherries, violets, cassis, leather and a touch of mint. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with a distinct red-fruited character, the nearly liqueur-like fruit deftly counterbalanced by strong acidity and a long, minerally finish. At this point, the tannins exert a gentle grip on the gums, and the wine is squarely in its drinking window. I would drink this one over the next decade …

Aerated with a Vinturi and decanted for one hour. Nose of blackberry, currant, mocha, graphite and tobacco leaf. Black and red fruit, mocha, dried herbs, graphite and crushed rocks. Long finish with good depth. Full bodied. Very good for the vintage. Served with grilled strip steaks and garlic, herb butter.

Third year in a row I've had this in December and it just keeps improving (92-96-96 scores). Very bright with slightly sweet red fruit, super smooth and none of the light/green components that many 2011's possess. This has come a long way in two years and, though it may improve, you cannot go wrong drinking this today. I suggest drinking on PnP with one pass through the Vinturi (or a short decant) as my first glass that underwent a 2+ …

Nearly impenetrable red with hints of purple. Notes of licorice, violets, herbs and vanilla characterize the 2011 Alpha Omega To-Kalon. It is medium bodied, with earth, black fruits, and minerals, all underpinned by good acidity. Displays good complexity on the long finish, with some tannin that still needs to be absorbed. Perhaps this is not as dense as some of the other vintages (i.e 2010, 2008), yet it doesn't lack for stuffing. I would imagine that this will improve with …

Drank over two days. First day ... Decanted for two hours. Color of dark red. Scents of cassis and raspberry and a little blackberry. Taste was funky, on the front end it was consistent with scents, but on the back end it had a very very off-putting funk. Second day ... Same as day one, but the off-putting funk was completely gone. Tastes were consistent with scents and had very very strong gripping tannins. I would think it needs more …

On 1/8 this year I scored this a 92 and was somewhat undecided about it. If this go-round is predictive, it just needs some time...because it has become absolutely memorable with an additional 11 months in bottle. Wow! Smooth, elegant, complex, dark fruit, great depth of flavor and a soul-satisfying drinking experience. One of those "life is good" wines! Now I don't know how long to wait to drink my final bottle. One thing for sure, unlike in January when …

The tough year. I'm at odds, I think it's fractured in the bottle which would suggest more time to go,..., yeah I'll go with that. I have tasted better Beckstoffer To Kalon from them. Don't get me wrong, it was good just........ Incomplete

There's nothing really distinctive about this, but it exudes a strong feeling of quality, reflecting the origin of its' grapes. Smooth and easy drinking were my takeaways. Giving it a couple hours of air helped it open up. ALR6767 describes it very well...you get the sense that in a better vintage, this would be dynamic...and the other vintage scores seem to confirm that. Given the cool year, it's hard to say if this will get better or just maintain, which …

Lucky enough to drink this bottle with my wife while having a Japanese Kobe Wagyu dinner at home. Decanted 2 hours, it didn't last long enough for me to jot down any formal notes, but I remember classic cassis, bell pepper, and sweet tannin. A real success for the vintage, I imagine that in a more "on" year this could be quite large scaled, but I really liked the balanced and "classic" nature of this bottle and vintage.
