Showing a bit more fruit than the 03 the night before, if almost equally ripe/chapitalized. Plum, leather, some blue fruit. Quite accomplished in the context of vintage. 92

Brooklyn Dinner with DJCV: Aromatically very alluring. Fruit was certainly still in tact, but the palate seemed to be bit thin and leaving something to be desired.

This is a great wine! It is hard to believe it is only a lieu-dit village wine. Ripe, hints of cooked of black current mixed with plum, mixed with spice, leather and slight mushroom. The wine is balanced, smooth, and compose on the palate with a great finish. One cannot ask for more!

Deep, dark colour, oak is still prominent (which is more than slightly ridiculous twenty years after the fact), somewhat four-square in the classic Coates style. It's okay.

Rubis profond. Nez et arômes puissants. Bleuets, truffe, cuir. Puissance impressionante pour un simple pinot village!

Consistent

This is tremendous stuff. Less smokey then the motrot with a super balanced and long finish

Light ruby color, fruity light and a bit effervescent.

Medium to deep ruby; Medium weight. Ripe, extrovert nose of intense black fruit aromas; rich, velvety, smoky with noticeable oak, although this is not too intrusive and is elegant for a 1998. Silky smooth and bags of extraction with a sweet inner core. Does not have the complexity of a 1er Cru, but is outstanding for a village wine. Fully mature. Estimated maturity: 2007-2012.

Medium/deep ruby, pale ruby rim. Ripe, cedary dark toned fruit on the nose , mainly plum - with some earthy hints. Similar ripe, polished black-toned fruit on the palate, cedary oak and hints of coffee. Good density and volume here, but this wine is made by the thrilling acidity that runs through to the medium length slightly tannic finish, with some earth and sous-bois notes. Modern style, but enjoyable.

This wine is drinking great now. Hard to believe it's a village wine. Rich dark fruit. Certainly a modern style Burgundy but not over done. Nice balance. Perhaps not typical for a village Gevrey but delicious none the less.
