PnP. Dark, opaque garnet with brick-tinged red edge in color. Muted nose of morello cherries, truffle and sous bois. Had a whiff of barnyard funk as well... On the palate: morello cherries, tanned leather, plums, dried figs, vanilla and black licorice. Sandy tannins are perceived on gums, cheeks and tongue. Long finish of sour cherries, sweet earth and wood spice. Wine felt a bit disjointed, but went flat on day two so I don't think more time in the cellar …

Last bottle...a bit dead, but a great memory...I've been drinking this wine for 15 years...what a pleasure it was over the years. The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like cranberry, prune, mushroom, cinnamon and sherry. It tastes like fig, mineral and sherry. The body is light/medium. The wine has angular texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Nice dark ruby/black color with browning around the edges. Explosive nose of dried cherry, nutmeg & clove. Puckerish entry with acids leading dried cherry, red currant & clove flavors. Needs food to shine.

Had this with lentil soup with Italian sausage and escarole on a cold, rainy Oakland evening. The wine is 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet and around $20 IIRC? tasting, it definitely shows the Cabernet component by showing some cassis/blackberry but with very little green tobacco or cedar. a big bruiser--not exactly my style--but very good for what it is. eucalypt and licorice on the nose, rich and structured on the palate with lots of everything: fruit, bramble, tannins, acids, dirt. long tannic finish. should improve with a few more years of bottle age.

This was a great wine for the money. The addition of cabernet does not overwhelm the sangiovese and actually gives the wine a better bite. This drinks like a mini-brunello, needs no decating time, and is drinking well, now.

Decanted an hour + before starting to drink. Yum. Very ripe aromas of black fruit, some dried fruit. Also tobacco, menthol, a bit of dill. Blackberry and black cherry are prominant. Acid is more balanced than a pure sangiovese wine (80% Sangiovese & 20% Cab). While still young, the tannins are very silky and approachable. Nice long finish with a smooth exit from the palate. By 2007 this is going to be one great wine.
