Domaine Thomas Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Vide Bourse

With lots of coaxing, a hint of citrus on the nose. But much less open than the Dents de Chien. Starts to unfurl and shows its stuff with the second glass and after being opened for 30-45 mins. More citrus notes. Spices. Definitely more power, a broader wine. For the cellar, no rush. Similar on day 2, albeit a bit more open and expressive.

As before. Superb.

I find this wine a step up in quality against the already excellent range of Chassagne 1er cru from Thomas Morey. A touch more of everything I wish for in white burg. More complex. More serious. I get stoned fruits on the palate. White peach. Touch of spice. The underlying power here is impressive. Really long finish. Acidity and fruit in great balance.

Thomas's wines are very different to Vincent's - the latter's are, like their father's, plump and attractive; Thomas's are lean, chiselled and more austere (not a pejorative) and are accordingly popular in Japan, Scandinavia and Germany. Not too complex

Outrageously good. A Baby Batard in every sense. Complex, rich and powerful with sappy white peach and citrus fruits mixing it up with aniseed spice. It is so deep and long with exceptional balance and extremely long, chewy finish.

Has some smoky mineral reduction along with powerful, sappy orchard fruits. It is a white of presence and muscle and possesses serious tang to the finish. Should be brilliant with time.
