This was a great example of a perfect villages in the peak zone. Very balanced, needed about 1 hour to get to full speed. Held for hours. Great for the level

Dare I say it, this bottle finally feels resolved. I can totally see where the previous reviewers were mentioning the acidity (or perhaps too much of it) as at this time it feels like the bottle feels balanced and the acidity has somewhat receded to tertiary flavors (mostly leather at this point in my opinion). Nail polish nose, VA, smells oxidized. Palate overly acidic, not enjoyable.

Finally, so this bottle still not quite up to par with the 1st bottle opened a few months back. Dark cherry and a bit musty on the nose, needs some air to open up. Mustiness goes away, dark cherry and a touch of spice, enjoyable, not compelling. Palate is acidic, more dark cherry, tannin has grip and outweighs the fruit by a bit although mostly resolved. Nicely aged village burg. Not quite as impressive as the 96 but still showing great. Darker pinot fruit, some earthiness and sous bois, partially resolved tannin, still has a little grip, good acid, decent complexity, finishes with juicy pomegranate, raspberry and spice. Surprisingly still time on these. Held on through day 2 and maybe even slightly better.

New Year's Eve dinner tasting. Brief note. At a really nice point right now. Shows its age with medium bricking. Nose and palate start off savory with smokey grilled game birds, floral tea, baking spice, and tart red cherries and pomegranate. Midpalate is velvety with gentle tannins and acidity and the finish is long and complex showing orange rind, blackberries, and savory herbs and sous bois. Great wine!

definite bricking. Nose initially appeared musty, I thought it was corked at first but others quickly corrected me and I realized my mistake as that faded with time; earthy/forest floor, good complexity on nose. Palate complex as well, slightly honeyed finish, good acidity. Probably my favorite of the night overall. 95 pts

White pepper and gevrey-character blue cheese on the nose. Opened up all evening. Well balanced and very mature. Very fine.
