Hate putting a number on wine This is a 2000 mule back (flew with me) from Italy 25 years old and “clean” (If you want the earthy and dried fruit specific flavors, see my point about number) It is getting thin but nuanced and beautiful (at fifteen minutes open) If you have any left, drink it Will update if it was a dying man’s breath Other facts: Stored well and cork ran up less than 25% of length Absolutely no …

A very well structured chianti with great concentration, complexity and integrated tannins. This 1997 was a great year, and one can feel the warmth in the wine. Was opened 1 hour in the bottle and no decanting. It still drank well, Open at least 1h as it removes that dustiness.

My last one. Showing strong for the age on the bottle. Dark garnet color, meaty, with some outstanding oak on the palate. Chewy for Chianti a la nod to Fontodi. Still plenty of life left. Wish there was less extraction, but it also could have been the vintage showing off. Still in a good spot. Needs something substantial to eat with the wine.

Suis le seul sur quatre personnes à y voir des notes de bouchon (en bouche, pas au nez).. Potable quand même avec le carré d'agneau de Kamouraska!

Dusty, light smoke on the nose. Tannins soft but still long and lingering. Fresh blackberry pie, sour cherry tart, terroir-forward, bit of gravel/dirt. Happy unexpected find in the cellar!

Some fruit still present, and quite lively. Drinking very nicely.

Sour cherries, red flowers, smoke, hint of bacon, and darkberries. Lush red fruit, bitter cherries, raspberries and prunes. Savoury and mouth watering finish.

Lovely well brought together and some meaty sour cherries. Nice. Was as good as i remembered it to be.

Still dark, with some bricking. This wine opened up quickly to reveal a nose of dark berries and black plum. Beautiful secondary characteristics of fresh mulch, earth and leather. Dark fruit and spices on the palate. Medium finish. Great balance, with tannins still evident but soft. A great example of aged CCR. Drink now but will hold for a few more years if well stored.

Very disappointing - lost out badly to a 97 Rocatto (93). Had some sour notes - drinkable but that's about it. Don't know if would have been much better if consumed earlier - possibly just an off bottle.

Hasn't seen a temperature above 53 since release. Spicy red fruit on the nose - very aromatic. Intense round red dominated fruit on the palate with fine balance. Nice deep finish. Not a great wine in my view in the overall scheme of things, but for sure, a great Chianti.

Good, modern styled chianti classico. Some leaf that reminds me of chianti, somehow. Attractive, bright and fresh on palate.

Friday Night (Buko Nero) : Still as I remembered with tobacco leaves, smoke and cool macerated cherries. This bottle is fresher but having savory undertones. A weak vintage that drinks better than its vintage character should be. Well made spicy cool black plums and cherries.

Dinner at Buko Nero (Buko Nero, Singapore) : Wow. I thought this was excellent. Quite a bit of Brunello styling on this - I actually thought it was a 1999 BdM. Lovely nose, with mossy earth, dried italian herbs, dried cherries, strawberries, flowers, a hint of mushrooms, savoury umami notes, and draw of cigarette. Very lovely. Palate had a nice smokiness to it, wed to clean, pure cherries and more earth herbs, all held in pitch perfect balance by juicy …

San Felice Tasting (Ponti Cellars) : An expressive nose of tobacco, smoke, sour plum smoked duck, sichuan preserved vegetables and rounding off with a core of musky notes. Does have reductive soy notes but adds charm though. Spicy well extracted fruits with some alc but still well managed . Old world italian with a splash of modernity. Quite ripe fruits but finishes off dry. Excellent wine with velvety tannins and lingers long on the finish. Deliciously presented yet retaining old …

Strong showing from this Chianti - everything is in place, the bouquet, the taste and the aftertaste. Dark fruits and rounded fine tannins, a great Chianti!

went from ok to "so so" 10 mins after opening, to be consumed directly in the glass, don't wait for oxygen to turn it into "so so".

This is drinking great now. Tertiary aromas are in full force: leathery, spicy, earthy, a hint of pepper and yes some black cherry too. Loads of black cherry on the palate balanced with rustic, grippy tannins, and just the amount of acid you'd expect from a well produced Chianti. While drinking well now I see some upside to this and a very long life, (based on the acid/tannin profile.)

World Gourmet Summit: Chianti Classico Wine Fair (St Regis, Singapore) : Nose: Elegant and classic Chianti Classico nose but with more pronounced cream. Taste: Big structued tannins that could last for several more years. A well made Chianti with more earth forward tones.

Decanted for about 1.5 hours. Again, dark underripe berries, earth, licorice, herbal tones. Really nice wine for assorted cheeses, smoked duck appetizer. Also fantastic with a fava bean crostini and pecorino romano. In comparison to the 1999 Ruffino CCR Oro, however, it fell short.

This was recommend by the wholesaler when I order some San Felice 2001 Brunellos and what a recommendation. It is still youthful in colour with a blackcurrant rim. Just swirling releases a lot of aromas of intense concentrated blackcurrants, tobacco leaf, a little farmyard and a little heat although well integrated. The palate is full and plush although this fades quickly leaving a concentrated mix of dark furit, forest and some cherry. This is finished of with long, warm, supple …

Lots of black fruits, licorice and minerals. The tannins have dropped away leaving a nice, powerful chianti. The wine was better than the lasagna!

Overdådig koncentration og samtidig fuldt ud tilgængelig. Kan drikkes nu, hvis man foretrækker den koncentrerede frugt, men der er også masser af potentiale for udvikling, og det er spændende, hvad den kan udvikle sig til.

Give this one around an hour to open up. Medium body, well-balance. Dark berries, earth, licorice, herbal tones. Went really well with gorgonzola-walnut pasta. Drinking near its peak now, but will keep a few more years.

After about 45 minutes decanted this wine came around wonderfully. Nice dark color, full body, good finish. What a quality Classico Riserva should represent.

A big burley tough chianti with lots of staying power. The tannins are just starting to fade. When they did, the flavors were of red berry fruit, tobacco, pepper and a brier patchiness that isn't unpleasant. No need to run out and drink the rest of these quickly.

[Bacco] licorice and herbs on the nose. Lighter body, good structre, well balanced. Licorice, herbs, red fruit, light. Drinking well now. Would purchase again only at a much lower price.

Also tasted this at Le Cantine in Greve. It was only $22.00 for a 1998!
