Would not've guessed pinot grigio. Atypical. More intense acid. Lovely color in the glass. Really enjoyed this...maybe surprisingly so. Sampled at Sunset Wine Party, so knew what we were getting into. Would get more.

Some wood here - four to five months in old wood, on the lees. As Alois notes 'this expresses the wine better". All large wooden cask. And all from a single vineyard is my understanding. I don't smell the wood. Complexity, great minerality, and that is a great expression of Pinot Grigio. The name comes from a family name from the 17th century. The last owner donated it to the local church, hence the "Benefizium" on the title. Alois just …
