Clos i Terrasses Priorat Laurel

No contemporaneous notes. Decanted, consumed starting about 30-45 minutes later. Inky dark. Notes of violet on the nose. Full bodied, dark fruits on the palate. Excellent. (93+).

Perhaps aging more quickly than expected, not quite as vibrant as my last note a few years ago. Still a very very good wine from one of my favorite importers.

WOW, super evolved roasted strawberries, cherries liqueur, delicious crisp red fruit, loads of salty and mineral nose, loads of iodine... Taste is sharp and crisp, red berries, long finish.

Blackish red. Paling edges. Plenty of glycerine. Typical Priorat bq w stone dust, dark plums, minerals, herbs (rosemary). Rounded tannins, very fresh acidity, dark fruit slightly drying at finish. Nicely balanced, even w 15 % alcohol. Aftertaste long and, for such a powerful wine, elegant. Probably at its peak now. Lovely!!

Here in Boston its been a very cold winter. Tonight snow sleet resulting in treacherous streets. Cancelled plans at made quick dinner pasta, sausages and Rao’s bottled sauce. Opened my last bottle of Laurel. Cant believe this is a $40 wine. Really wonderful. Jammy but not cloying. Has a kick from tannins but somehow soft. Each glass keeps getting better as it opens up. Did not decant seemed incongruous with meal.

Still intense fruit with plums and prunes. Enjoyed by all but with some complaints about heat. At 15%, there is a lot of alcohol but it’s generally well matched by the intense black fruit.

Sharp herbal streak in this bottle, which is not my favorite thing. But otherwise excellent.

Deep garnet color. Rambunctious aromas and intensity. Lots and lots of sediment. This had incredible concentration on the palate and great length. Decent now (we decanted it) but honestly it needs another 5-10 years to fully peak.

Garnacha night out (Athanasiadis house) : Full on ripe red and black fruit, some heavier floral notes with a very distinctive herbal note right in the middle, mineral, basket full of cherries and currants. Palate with a certain overripe tone, a few balsamic notes that with time, fall back in line, hugely concentrated, same flavors as the nose, big but not aggressive tannins, medium finish

Day 2 - the first thing that hits you is white pepper and it stays with you through a very lonoooong finish. Maybe it was the last glass in the bottle, but today the wine was almost jammy, a bit viscous. Notes of cola nutmeg and a good part of the spice rack. Even at $40, this is an incredible value. Celebrate if you have this wine.

Bright cherry fruit, tar, white pepper, a hint of eucalyptus, plus herbal notes. Plenty of complexity to make each glass and each sip a different experience. Medium garnet color, light to medium weight, but always full-flavored. Acidity still prominent, but well-balanced. Long finish that keeps dragging you back for another sip. A real Wow! kind of wine.

Really lovely wine especially early on when it showed some complexity and depth. The Grenache plus cab and syrah blend was very tasty throughout the evening and into the next day. It was fresh and fruity to the end. Excellent mouthfeel and clean but modest aftertaste.

Is charred strawberry or damson a flavour? Along with lots of savoury notes. A lick of liquorice? Lovely intense mid flavour. Slightly thin? But burnt deliciousness to taste. Next bottle: Keep until 24. Some leftover for tomorrow eve. Mmmmmm …….

Twin Cities Wine Club no US Wines (Edina, MN) : This is young and vibrant. Dark purple in color. Spice, floral, blueberries, raspberries and cherry. Big style wine but very enjoyable. Long finish. Drink now to 2032.

Absolutely outstanding. Dark fruit and spice melded. Full body. I believe this is at its peak. A single sniff and sip just brought a big smile to my face. Strong proof that wine is a gift from God
