The Bruery Hipmonk

This wasn't my favorite among the Terreux Small Batch selections last time around, and while it's still a fine beer, it also still doesn't reach the upper echelons. Whereas I'd expected the orange zest to have hung around the longest, it was barely a whisp on this tasting, leaving the more floral rose and lavender notes to steal the scene. This is one of the more interesting flavor combinations that Terreux has attempted in the Hoarders small batch series, and it mostly hits the mark. The nose is richly floral, but not nearly as citrusy as I was expecting. Similarly, the orange zest didn't seem terribly prominent on the palate, but that allowed the herbaceous floral notes to interplay with the earthiness and spiciness of the rye.
