Chardonnay Blind Tasting; 12/16/2011-12/17/2011 : Wet, stoney nose with ripe pineapple and green apple. On the palate, repeats the fruits from the nose, has a candied nuance, the fruit is a bit straightforward, not very balanced, seems like there is a little RS. Very mediocre wine.

Pours solid yellow-gold 4 Vibrant nose with lots of ripe fruit - apple and melon; vegetal notes with nettle and bottom notes of wood 15 Well concentrated flavors, with strong but pleasant acids, tarry bitterness and mineral; finishes nicely with pleasant grape and subtle oak 18 Tasty wine with all the qualities I like in a fresh chard; would be even better if it was tighter - which it may have been last year 2

Very light color, and a very fresh wine that has tastes of citrus but also some minerality.

Enjoyable--would have again. Welcome departure from California-style Chard, with notes more characteristic of Sauvignon Blanc.

Bottle was a gift and enjoyable. Liked the dry crispness with hint of fruit and a bit of oak. Would probably buy again.

A decent Chardonnay, dry and crisp, hints of lime, green apple, pear and balanced acidity. Let it warm up a bit to get more of the subtle flavours out. Decent Chard for the price.

great value. Serve on the warm side to reveal smooth honey and crisp apples. Fruity but not overly so. Good finish and length.

Crispy clean golden yellow, oak, pineapple and grass on the nose. Ripened apples followed by balanced acidity, with a long finish. Evolves a lot. Initially short on the finish, but 5 minutes later it woke up. This wine is all about change, every sip is different, yet always full bodied and balanced.

Pretty good value for money but the oak and the fruit are little too separated. Fresh and easy drinking wine with no aging potentiality. For greasy grilled fish and hot pork ribs. Good acidity carries quite long in your mouth. Buy it and drink it. No questions asked.

Paired with Thai noodles and coconut curry soup. Once again, Alamos Chard does not disappoint. Be sure to serve very slightly chilled. Not very much oak with nice apple/citrus flavors. Nice wine.

Nose of honeysuckle, medium body, good acidity, slight sweetness and slight bitterness at the end. I liked it. The wife didn't.

Pineapple, bananna and vanilla come into play with this fine Chardonnay. As it gets closer to room temp, it gets smoother.

Kleur: bleek geel, helder Geur: gele appeltjes, botertje met ananas Smaak:licht zoete aanzet. Gele appeltjes, ananas iets vettigs en mineraligs. Middel lange afdronk. Dit is er een van 13 in een dozijn, niet slecht maar niks bijzonders.

I think this bottle would have been better cold (although i like my wine, red and whites, cellar temp. Tasty, especially after the initial shock at first. First sip was bitter, and sharp going down. It smoothed out after the third or so taste though. A decent bottle. I'd probably try something else first though, before i bought this bottle again.

Golden yellow in color, with loose, simple flavors of tropical fruit, caramel, and oak in its buttery, tart style. Medium-bodied, with the fruit component dominating a subtle wood note. A good effort for the price.

Lots of oak and a wiff of lemon with some fruit on the nose. The oak is very forward on the palate and almost overpowers this wine. This is a 'typical' Cali chard for the average wine drinker - just costs less.

Clear straw core of moderate intensity out to a wide watery rim - youthful. Clean nose of moderate+ intensity showing butter, pineapple, vanilla, toasty oak, lemon with a hint of development. Dry with a soft clean entry carrying moderate flavours of lemon, oak, pineapple and vanilla with the mouthfeel of properly handled malolactic fermentation - some development showing but it still retains nice mod+ acidity along with moderate body and alcohol. The finish is moderate to long with pleasing flavours …

Rich, fairly oaky style. Slightly heavy. Tasty at first, but a bit of residual sugar grows a little tiresome. Actually a very good value, but not as good as the '06, and this wine is shows better at tasting then drinking at home.

A rich, full, oaky style showing layers of caramelized pear, butterscotch, and brown butter. Wood is upfront and acid isn't really there, but somehow this maintains a sense of crispness through its off-dry, almost syrupy palate.

Bright and juicy, this chardonnay shows considerable character and depth for $8. Pleasant aromas of citrus blossoms and ripe pear introduce flavors reminiscent of peaches-n'-cream, orange zest, and honey, all supported by zingy acidity. An excellent white for picnic or deck sipping on a hot summer's day.

I cannot say anything too complimentary about this wine; we have had superior chardonnays in the price range. Quite a lot of oakiness but there was a disturbing sweetness that hinted of added sugar in its coarseness.

Catena Tasting : We loved the '04, were not as happy with the '05, and I'm very happy that the '06 is back to being spot on. Oaky, vanilla spice thing mixing with the tropical fruits on the nose. The tropical fruits continue on the palate, and finish with wonderful juicy acidity. This way overdelivers for the price point, and is another esteemed by the cae buy. 88+
