This tasted like an extraordinarily ripe bordeaux. Think new world bordeaux from 2003. still works because it is dry. 88-89. Not one of the better bottles of 202 given the variability.

Not quite as good as my prior bottle, but got better with air clearly. It was a little sharp to start. Still nice fruit and structure inna well balanced ripe, but earthy merlot.

89-90. Quite good, this bottle. Big acid and tannin with serious structure. Dry, tannic with a bit of aok, somewhat muted fruit, but still ripe. Better than some prior bottles. 90 perhaps after some air.

Not a huge fan night 1. A bit ripe, slight cardboard. Much better night 2. More balanced, nice structure and acidity. Still not living up to early bottles. 89 based on night 2.

Havens reserve Merlot has more bottle variation than any of my other favorites. This was near perfect. Decanted for an hour. Dark, with plenty of fruit beneath. Rich, complex, long finish, just what I want in a new world merlot.

88+ based on night 2. Less based on night 1 and 3. Very ripe, but still maintains big acidity and structure. Night 2 showed best balance and no cardboardy notes.
