Day 1 - the nose opened a touch musty/oxy. Changed to powerful just sliced tart granny smith apple. Mouth complex with short crust pasty, caramel apple, some tropics. Nose had me questioning if flawed. Mouth was great though and alien wonder I associate with Martin's wines. Day 2 - Must threat faded, mixed apples, oxy question mark still there. Mouth Tangerine, white tea, asian pear. This feels meh Day 3 - Ahh. Now this has come together. Nose is flowers …

A private lunch (Restaurant Wein & Tafelhaus *, Trittenheim, Germany) : Intense but lively yellow colour; nose opens up beautifully in the large Zalto glasses, fresh and juicy pineapple, hints of honey and spicy, waxy bottle age; wonderfully full and flowing palate, almost Burgundian weight and buttery richness (Zeeuwse boterbabbelaar), ripe but firm acidity, well balanced; very convincing finish, excellent resonance and length. Unique style, fascinating wine. Goes through distinct phases (pineapple, honey, butter) in about 45 minutes and then …

13% alcohol. Intense golden color with a subtle green hue. Somewhat dry and restrained nose with more savory than sweet aromas of honey, wet stones and a hint of smoke. The wine is light-bodied, focused and fine-tuned on the palate with attractive and pretty focused flavors of tingly minerality, fleshy peachy fruit, some honeyed tones, a little bit of grated ginger, hints of beeswax and a touch of developed dried fruit sweetness. The wine is moderately high in acidity. The …

A journey through Martin Müllen's Riesling wonderland (Diergardts "Kühler Grund", Hattingen, Germany) : A bit of dextrose mixed with stony components on the nose. Very clear on the palate with some wild berry notes. The acidity is very round but I miss the tension and precision. Not as good as the "trocken" brothers from the same vintage which knock my socks off.

A journey through Martin Müllen's Riesling wonderland (Diergardts "Kühler Grund", Hattingen, Germany) : Also the Paradies showed extremely well in 2003. It has more ripe yellow fruit and tons of floral components. The acidity stands even more out than in the Hühnerberg. I loved it but not everyone was lucky. Elegant finish. Still has years to go.

A journey through Martin Müllen's Riesling wonderland (Diergardts Kühler Grund, Hattingen, Germany) : This was one of the greatest surprises of the tasting for me: Pale, golden yellow color. Airy, exotic fruit, softness, herbs, elder flower on the nose. Beautiful and multi layered. Dry. Acidity is a bit sharp. No signs of maturity. Very elegant and floral. Potential for at least 5+ years. 91+

A journey through Martin Müllen's Riesling wonderland (Diergardts Kühler Grund, Hattingen, Germany) : Pale, light yellow golden color. Nose with some Sulphur and lots of slate. No signs of petrol or firn. Off-dry, about 80-90gr of residual sugar. Medium- acidity, typical for the vintage, but surprising considering the fantastic acidity in its dry brother. A bit more tension as the Paradies. Some red fruit, vanilla. Very nice length, creamy on the palate. Potential for 10++ years. 91-92
