My second (and final) bottle drunk this year. Better than the one back in May. Lovely, soft mature Shiraz nose with red fruits, meaty overtones and some gravel. Almost Rhone-like though a bit softer and riper. Lovely meaty fruit, pitch perfect maturity - celestial gravy flavours. Really enjoying this with the last of last year’s pheasant that I froze, simply roasted with potatoes and Cavolo Nero.

Last tasted three and a half years ago with similar notes. Still drinking very well after 28 years, with lots of black and blue fruist in the nose and flavor. Blackberries and blueberries with some spice and floral. Rich and concentrated, full bodied, well balanced, and a long finish.

Showing its age a bit. Meaty nose with a little eucalyptus and damsons. Gravy flavours, tastes old but still healthy with density and a bit of fruit complexity developing over 2.5 hours. Drink soon on this showing.

Still drinking beautifully after 25 years, with fruit in the nose and flavor, blackberries and blueberries with some spice and floral. Rich and concentrated, full bodied, well balance, and a long finish.

Still going strong with plenty of life left. First 1-2 hours open show a lot of stewed fruit. But then that blows over and you get dense ripe fruit with good structure and some tannins.

I did not enjoy this wine. Very typical big, bold intense Barossa shiraz, and I suppose well made. The real problem for me was the sweetness of the fruit, almost cloyingly so. Any acidity was very muted, and whilst there was some body with the tannins, overall the wine lacked balance.

We served this at our 1/23/16 smoked brisket dinner. It had a deep, massive bouquet of violet, smoked meat, blackberry, blueberry, plum, truffle, licorice and spice aromas. The palate was dense and powerful with flavors of tar, blueberry, blackberry, plum, licorice spice and black truffle salt

Shiraz tasting with some big wines : 16% ABV. This is not an oaky New World fruitbomb, at least not at this stage. Powerful, ripe nose showing leather, dried plums, tar and thyme. The palate is rich and dense, with light tannins, but the most significant sensation here is that of an extreme saltiness, which may put some off. Really, really salty. Some heat on the finish, but saltiness is rather striking here, than alcohol. Interesting wine of real character. …

Well, this was the worst Barossa Shiraz I've ever had. The most disappointing thing is that I'm not under-qualified to make the judgement: I cellar 1000s of bottles of Australian Wine, and I love the big Barossa style: Octavius, Command, Hobbs & BasketPress all feature in sustantial quantity the cellar and I really love the style. Decanted 5 hours. Rich, thick, creamy, heavy black & blue fruit. Everything that I like about Auzzie Shiraz. That said, not sure it's worth the $65 I paid for it at auction. At $40-45, I'd buy a case.

Perfumed floral notes, perfectly in balance

2004 vintage

Decanted 4 hours, this still has a deep rich color. The nose and palate showed similar notes - mostly dark fruits. Tastes heavily extracted ( big surprise for a Greenock Creek! ) and really intense, all in a good way to my palate. Bottle says 14.7% and although it didn't taste hot it did seem to be high alcohol while cleaning up from dinner after the two of us consumed the bottle over 90 minutes or so. Enjoyed with Mushroon …
