Well preserved. Cork was in fine condition. Still full of the fruit flavors typical of a Pinot obviously mellowed due to age but less so than expected. Well structured. This could hold for at least another 5 years.

Had a 2005 through 2012 vertical of Merry Edwards Flax Vineyard Pinot. Just opened the 2005 and 2006 last week for a taste. Both were gone in terms of taste

Rose petals and bright red fruit on the nose, Full bodied Pinot on the palate, acidiy had tempered and led to rich fruit that is expected in Flax. Dark cherry flavor with some Cola. Really nice Pinot that is tasting well now, hopefully people kept this around and didnt drink to early. 91-92 pts.

This was a solid bottle of pinot but probably not worth the tariff.

Popped and poured. Medium bright red; floral nose with hints of spice. On the palate a bit disjointed with sweet fruit upfront but some acidity on the finish and perhaps a bit of alcohol; may integrate with air.

Seemed a bit closed, with the fruit overshadowed by the acidity. Maybe needs some time.

Medium ruby robe with red rim. Clean nose, opening over one hour to show moderately intense aromas of raspberries, cola, cardamom and cocoa. Medium-bodied on the palate, with medium-to-high acidity, medium sweet tannins and raspberry/cola flavors. The middle palate is full and the finish is long, albeit tart. This is a very nice Pinot but just a bit over-manipulated (acidified). It should drink nicely over the next five years, unless (due to over-acidification) the lack of balance really throws this …

Nice, but not as much depth in flavor or balance as others that I have tried of hers.

Saturday Tasting Group (Knightsbridge Wine Shop (Northbrook, IL)) : Very nice acid driven, medium bodied Pinot from this classic producer. Creamy and opulent showing nice baked good play with super refined tannins leading to a feminine style. Lush and supple mid palate showing nice ripe fruit. Nice New World slightly culty showing. Lovely rose petals on the back end.

Dark ruby color. Berries, black cherry and smoke on the nose. Cherries, spice (tea, clove), earth and cranberry flavors coat the palate. I really enjoy this wine.

Sonoma-Napa Trip Day 2 and 3; 6/27/2009-6/28/2009 (Sonoma) : This is apparently all Pommard clone fruit. Light violet(?) nose. Touch of black cherry. Bright black cherry fruit turning tangy cranberry late. Quite tangy in the finish.

Decided to pull two '06 Flax vineyards (Merry Edwards & William Selyem) for a dinner event. Hard to believe they came from the same vineyard and same clone. The ME was darker with black fruit, cloves, mocha and anise. The WS was lighter and sweeter with hints of cola and cinnamon and a bit of heat. Both nicely structured with long finishes.
