A great hedonistic pleasure. Bit of a sex-bomb. Gave it a 5 hour decant and the nose alone was worth the purchase price. Screamed merlot from across the wine cellar. Plenty of fruit to dominate the ripe tannins. Opened a bit before its time so that it could participate in a tasting experiment. At 9 yrs of age it was much more enjoyable for me than a similarly decanted 2016 Pontet Canet but not as intellectually stimulating as the 2016 …

Tasted along 2007 vintage, enjoyed this vintage quite a bit more, feels more concentrated, with finer structure and balance. A blend of 83% Merlot and 17% CF. Deep ruby colour. Intense aroma of plums, toast, blackberries, herbs, chocolate, strawberries, hint of cedar. Medium+ body, concentrated and powerful with firm structure and high and ripe fine tannins, toasty black and red fruit flavours, long finish.

The blend of 83% Merlot and 17% Cabernet Franc produced a stony, mineral-driven wine with oak, smoky dark fruits, vanilla bean and black raspberry. Round textured and structured with sweet, dark fruits that stay throughout the finish, this wine is juicy and fresh with a strong note of coffee in the end.
