Spierhead Pinot Noir Cuvée

Spearhead Winery, Okanagan Pinot Noir Vertical and Horizontal; 9/23/2022-9/24/2022 (Calgary, Alberta) : Medium red with white edge. Blueberry, delicate, cherry nose and palate. Coming back later, the nose had caramel. Coravin.

nose is definitely pinot noir, light cherry, some vanilla too. Good concentration, medium body and flavours are cherry and some oak. This is maturing nicely. A little tannin, still.

This is a very good pinot noir from BC. The bouquet is full of black cherry but without being overwhelming or luxurious. On the palate, there are black cherry, black raspberry and a bit of bitter spice/herb at the end.The tannis are fine and smooth now. It has enough acidity to give a lift at the end, mixed in with the slightly bitter spice providing an interesting and compelling finish. The wine is elegant with the right proportions in all …

We thought it was pretty nice. Def got the berries on the top. Paired with smoked ribs and held up surprisingly well!

Very nice & smooth. Bold but not too bold for most of family.

A bit harsh and hard to get the fruit.

Tasted at the winery. First bottle is oxidized. Second bottle has lots of fruit, the most power of any of the 4 bottlings. The structure to improve for 5+ years. Very good at this price.
