Mayu Syrah Reserva

Sweet smoky black fruit aromas. Stewed jam. Damsons, plums, pepper, wood. Something medicinal too. Palate is much softer than a year or so back. Plenty of sweet ripe fruit, and also some creamy vanilla. Very smooth and creamy. Tannins nicely integrated. Wicked spicy finish - very peppery, and perhaps a tad hot from the ABV. But...for the price and considering its age, I'm impressed.

Damson jam aromas. Pepper. Something very menthol in there - lifted...is that the expression? Definitely some oak. But just very 'bright'. Pretty similar on the palate too. Very acidic, with bags of peppery dark fruits. Maybe not quite as jammy as the nose. A little sweet vanilla on the finish. Still tannic and the oak is perhaps a touch bitter. Develops with time into some rather fragrant, and a tad softer.
