Dead or Not Dead (Chez Dalluge, The Outer Limits, MN) : Medidum plus gold color. Small glass over 20 minutes. Ripe, apricot, grapefruit, orange, lanolin, orange peel, ripe, spiced, very nice.

Giving my 2nd bottle a go after the flawed first one. Nose: Pineapple, quince, nectarine, flowers, minerals, dried herbs (thyme and mint). Palate: Confectionary. Dried pineapple, membrillate, dried herbs again, and bruised apple toward the very end. Medium+ body, off-dry with medium+ acidity and alcohol warmth to balance it out. Fairly long finish. Fairly high concentration of fruit. Still has the stored away Christmas ornament box note, but it works this time. Between that and the candied fruit, this feels …

Nose: Apple juice, a little oxidized. Palate: Reduced Mott's, bruised apple, honey, cyser, touch of sweet spice, rooting through the cardboard box of Christmas ornaments in late November. Very sweet, beyond demi-sec. Medium acidity can't compete with it. I've heard good things about aged chenin, so I don't know if this was just off or bad provenance.

Solid effort. Slight sweetness still remains, apricot, peach, slight note of oak on the palate. Very clean, precise and focused. Good, will last for years.

Light straw in color. Nose of honeysuckle and pear. Tastes of honeysuckle, Meyer Lemon, and hints of ripe peaches and minerals. Lovely wine, still balanced with lovely fruit and acidity. Drank better on days two and three. Unbelievable QPR. Drinking nicely now, but should last another 5-7 years with potential for positive evolution.

Pale gold in color. Nose of apricots and lanolin. Tastes of dried peaches, apricots, and hints of autumnal spices. Lovely depth and balance. Fruit and acidity are in wonderful harmony. Slightly sweet taste. At least 5 years of positive development ahead. Tasted just as good on days two and three.

Fruity bouquet, melon, honey, and hints of lychee and grapefruit on the palate continuing through the finish. The acidity has mellowed nicely allowing the honey to come through, very nice to sip all by itself!

Beautiful medium-gold color. Aromas of pineapple, creamy lemon, stone fruits. Lightly sweet with fantastic, lively acidity that isn't sharp or harsh. Flavors of tropical fruit, orange, grapefruit and a bit of honey. Fruit and acid both linger on the long finish. Excellent, and a great value at $13-$15. Plenty of life still. 91-92.

Really enjoyed this Vouvray. Just on the sweet side of off dry, but thoroughly enjoy this with a lemon chicken. Will definitely try to pick up another few bottles

Color: Golden Aroma: floral, honeysuckle Taste: tropical fruit, peach, honey Finish: long Notes: This was still fruity, but the previous honeyed overtones were now a major component of the taste. There was very little acidity. While somewhat sweet upfront, it was not cloying and left a pleasant aftertaste. The accompanying food was spicy and the wine worked well to balance the sensory impact. The wine was surprisingly drinkable after 10 years.

Showing sweeter now than a year ago. Really would expect another year or two to tame that and allow more of the chenin funk to shine. Pichot always represents very good value.

Good acidity for the sweetness; elegant grapefruit pith (unlike the ugliness of Cal. sauvignon blanc); passionfruit under tones; present vanilla/oak (yet not overly so); heavy body. A nice, fairly complex wine. Too clumsy for daily drinking- seeks butter or spicy dishes to pair.

Lovely nose of peach, apple, a bit of tangerine, just not quite enough acidity to overcome the relative sweetness, which I think is essential in Vouvray. Finish is quite nice. Pleasant to drink, nice even alone, but not one of the finest Vouvray on the market.

Wow! This bottle delivered far more than we expected. The flavor was decided white grapefruit with honeyed overtones. The fruit was still in full force. We served the wine with an assortment of tangy and spicy dishes. The wine held its own and complimented the overall dinner. It's a great thing that we have another bottle left in the cellar.

Deep gold color. Strong flowery nose, full bodied in the mouth, off-dry. Great complexity and length, would pair very well with spicy Asian food. At maturity, feels like it's going to further evolve positively. Robe mordorée. Nez floral puissant, beaucoup de matière en bouche, demi-sec. Très belle complexité et longueur, ferait un merveilleux accord avec de la nourriture Asiatique épicée. Mature, apparait encore avoir un beau potentiel d'évolution.

Summer of Vouvray : The poster formally known as the Burg Dude recently posted a thread extolling the virtues of this wine at this link. I liked this wine as well. A little sweeter than the previous 2 wines but still on the dry side of the spectrum. Notes of apple, lemon/lime and fresh peaches. Medium to long finish. 90 points.

Had 10/25/03 with Pete & Michele and B&J's Bistro in LZ. One bottle in cellar at home. This is a fairly sweet wine, but with bright fruit, similiar to a NZ Sauv Blanc. Paired nicely with my skatewing entre'.

Very pale green-tinted gold; nose of honey and flowers; honey and floral notes continue on palate, some peach/apricot notes, but a slightly sour edge. Lots of acidity to carry the vaguely sweet fruit and honey-candy notes, but its all disjointed, and the sour notes detract. I don't have enough experience with cellaring Loires to know, but I suspect this will improve over time ans all of its elements come together. Right now though, a little disappointing.

Like WS I thought it was reticent on the nose, but delicious, juicy, refreshing to drink. Tina and I both detected sweet pink grapefruit, as opposed to lemon; also spice and pear.
