Still very youthful and quite primary. Well-balanced so no harm in opening one but this should improve to 40+ no problem.

Initially decanted about 4 hours, with a couple glasses leftover for the next day. Lighter in color with bricking. Very viscous and sweet with bing cherries and licorice. The tannins are fully resolved. A medium slightly warm finish is short on acidity to temper that sweetness. A rather delicate VP at this point in its evolution and one that is at its peak drinking window, if not a touch past. 88 Points

Colorado Memorial Day Tasting; 5/26/2023-5/27/2023 (Longmont, Colorado) : Dark Ruby in color. There are some slight hints of pool chlorine on the nose with some subtle dark fruit. Tart cranberry on the palate with some chocolate and some coarse, unrefined tannins. Medium-long finish.

Deep red/black center, red rim with signs of age. Blackberry, smoke, alcohol, little edgy, cream soda, marzipan. Sweet, plums and some green peppers, sweet, rounded maturity, a little nutty, marzipan, modest acidity and tannin, good slightly vegetal finish. Very good vintage port, matured well, still has some time to go, but drinking very well now.

2015 Port Harvest Tour; 9/26/2015-10/3/2015 (Portugal) : Dark purple with a garnet edge. Primary blueberry and violet notes on the nose. Amazingly smooth approach given that this is a 2011 VP. Crazy structure and all the components that will likely evolve into an interesting VP. The mid-palate just explodes with unctuous fruit and tannins.

Dark red although it was getting pretty dark outside. Dark fruit, figs and plums. Sweet flavours and still quite tannic. However this may have been primary but was great with cheese.

D+0: Chewy and hot. D+6: Heavy nose on alcohol, bilberries, violet, licorice - mouth is gentle power - thick, smooth, gentle heat, rich - long long finish. D+30: Nose is calmer now - long legs, purple, glass-staining - nice balance of black fruit, alcohol - slight chew - some stomach heat - just really nice in the mouth - long finish. This doesn't (yet) have some of the complexity of other 2011s I've tried, but nor is it so harsh.

PHMG WAG: Port(ugal) Tasting (The Lyon Lodge) : More obvious etoh than the Smith-Woodhouse before it, so slightly disjointed. BUT this is more what one would expect from such a young Port. The black fruit is deep with tar, spice, mocha, and wet stone. Modest sweetness and moderate tannins. Wait!

S FL WS Group celebrates JC & FKG's new home (Hollywood, FL) : No bricking yet, though this was drinking well and opened nicely without any heat on the finish. Thick and rich, but a bit less sweet than some others. Still quite youthful, but it has entered its drinking window.

Decanted 6hrs, still quite backward, very nice blackberry liqueur, chocolate, cloves and vanilla. A powerful port that is tannic, but balanced, needs at least 5 more years to fully show it's stuff! 91+

Showed very well - had it over 3 days and it was consistently good without significant changes. Light brown, nice nose fruity, nutty, with some fleeting orange rind. Smooth and fully resolved. Showing just a little heat but lifted by good acidity throughout. Long intricate finish. Not the most complex port, but very good and a pleasant surprise. Got it for a song, so stellar value as well.

I left this in the decanter and tasted it over three days. Still a deep purple with no signs of bricking or fading. Initially this showed a little more heat across the board than other bottles of this I've had, but by the end of day two it had subsided considerably. The fruit was very tight early on and it was a bit rough to drink the first day, between the aggressive tannins, bright acidity, restrained fruit, and heat. By …

Tasty. Smoooth, not harsh at all, without any alchohol bite. A friend commented that he noticed some hints of tawny-like flavors.

Saturday Night Tasting Menu at Home : Decanted 4 hours. By the time we got to this, it was our fourth bottle and we were on our sixth course...so we were feeling pretty good. Nice end to a great meal. Still quite youthful and very intense on the palate. Very nice fruit. Really enjoyable.

(Cask Sample) Medium violet in color. Light, bright fruit on the nose. Blackberry and cassis. Great structure - big tannins balanced with a nice acidity. Medium finish.
