YPO Austin Blind Wine Tasting; 5/15/2025-5/16/2025 : In blind tasting of $150+ Napa cabs 2010-2020, this was group's #2/9 and my #2(tie)/9. Nice asphalt/tar, tobacco, dark red fruit.

A pretty spectacular wine. Stewed plum, blueberry jam, vanilla, and a touch of espresso on the palate. Its age is evident but it still drinks like a younger wine and I’d image it will only improve over the rest of the decade.

I love Hestan Cabs but I think the 2014 is much more ready to drink at this point. I am going to let these rest for a few more years. I think this will be a 95 pt wine in the 2nd half of this decade. Cheers.

Spectacular in every way. Amazing fruit, depth, length, and finish. Bold and heavy with mostly resolved tannins. This wine is ready now and singing!!

The 2013 is in prime shape. We enjoyed the 2012 last night and felt it had slightly lost a step. The 2013 is in fine form. Beautifully balanced. All good.

Beautiful bouquet of Black currants, opaque to the rim. This 2013 was excellent! in a very good spot now. Remarkable balance! Muddled Black fruits, no hard edges, 30 seconds of layered ripe fruit finish with a hint of dust. Will be looking for more!

this wine is in a terrific place with a 3+ hour decant. No signs of any age. In the perfect primary place with delicious fruits and perfect tannins on the finish. Beautiful! Can age longer.
