Last bottle and top billing. Rich, ripe stewed black berries and plums with leather and tilled soil, matched with towering acidity and moreish freshness. At 15 years this still has vim and structure; able to go a lot longer I would have thought. It’s been a pleasure.

I wasn't expecting much from this cellar orphan, so was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be very good. Deep, full flavors, some tar, maybe a bit of pruins. Whatever, we enjoyed it.

From 75cl, perfect cork, decanted 1 hour. Intense balsamic, aromatic herbal and exotic spice action, from nose to tail. Add just-ripe blackberry, with all the mid-palate acidity and tannic intensity that implies. Very concentrated (and this is Mauro's entry-level wine...) A tasty juicy red that seems to be at its peak unless, in magnum. A robust dark plum red. A touch feral that blew off leaving a smooth, savoury palate. Gave some pleasure as an accompaniment to a tomato based meat stew. Happy that it was my last bottle.

Der Holzeinsatz ist zum Glück schon nicht mehr so stark spürbar. Hat mich positiv überrascht. Sehr modern gemacht, aber wirklich gut. Hat wohl noch ein langes Leben vor sich. Wird der besser oder einfach anders? Ich würde aufs zweite tippen.

Dark ruby with slight browning on the edge. Expressive nose showing blue fruit compote, clove, dried spices and lots of old leather. A wonderfully fleshy sweet fruit core on the palate, with med+ acidity and chalky moderate tannins. Short/med finish, but very moreish. This is supposedly towards the end of its drinking window yet felt quite vibrant and altogether present. Dark red with a minor amount of bricking. Very earthy, meaty, leather and tobacco with cherry fruit. Mature, but not too old. Excellent with Manchego cheese.

Dark forest fruit, cassis, plums, spices, chocolate, slightly meaty on the nose. Very concentrated, dense and quite sweet. On the palate a bit of alcohol, rich and despite good acidity a little heavy. Very generous and ripe. Nice length. 88-90

Consumed over 2 nights. Very young at the moment. A lot of potential. Improved a lot the second night. Much more depht and more intense. 91 pts at the moment. In a few years maybe 92-94

DHWine. An appealing blackcurrant nose. Short-ish red wine, not sharp at all but slightly tannic afterwards. Better with food (tasted with blue cheese, sun-dried peppers, Spanish tortilla, ham and cured meat sausage).

At Toledo in NYC for dinner, the wine opens quickly with a nose of dark fruit, the palate is plums, black cherry, a hint of cedar. A long smooth finish.

Nice wine for the price. Attractive nose of red and black fruit, licorice, and spices. Opened up quickly to provide a wine with good concentration and medium bodied.

Deep red color. Starting to show signs of aging with amber rim. Fully developed nose with cherry, eau-de-vie, cedar and spicy notes. Just enough tannins to hold everything together, but I would drink this within the next year or two. Fades fairly rapidly in the glass.

In Zurich at Heugumper restaurant, by the glass. From a bottle that had been open about an hour. First experience with this wine. Dark garnet color. Dark fruits, earth, pine. Lush and rounded. The Syrah component provides a softer more rounded mouth feel than straight Tempranillo. Young but very accessible now - should age well but not sure it adds much complexity. Very nice

Retailer tasting (Vianen) : This wine has 90% Tempranillo and 10% Syrah. Ripe dark forest fruits in the bouquet. On the palate the same ripe dark berries, good acidity and lovely tannin with a beautiful bite. Already approachable, but in fact still a bit too young. Wait until 2016. It will drink nicely several years after that. 90 – 91+ for today.

The Wine Society - The Wines of Spain (Merchant Taylors' Hall) : Delicious nose, fruity and mature. Full and fruity, not quite integrated yet, but shows great promise.

The wine is garnet colored. On the nose light toasted oak with vanilla, pencil and red fruit. It tastes a bit more toasty with vanilla, raspberry and leather. The body is full but smooth with a nice long finish that brings out the fruit. Likely could have cellared for longer but it was not too premature to drink.

Okay, this is sweeter and fruitier than last year, but it is in no way hot or unbalanced and it improved over the course of three days (with overnight stays in the fridge). A big, fruity modern red with balancing acidity, sweet tannins, where the wood has been kept in check. This also has a distinct mineral streak which I like.

A very nice wine to go with a spanish inspired meatdinner. Dark nicecolour, with only a thin more orangelike looking outer rim. Smells of lots of berries crushed together with a hint of earthiness and just a hint of vanilla. A lot more intensity in the mouth than expected, that clears the mouth. Intens fruitcore acidity that melts together with the beginning feeling of secondary aromas and tastes like earth, leather, humus and fresh woods. Buy again.

From the nose I was wondering if this was Garnacha (grenache), but the palate showed more structure and acidity than I would expect for that?!?
