What a diva. It takes ages to open up – completely closed at first and only revealing itself slowly over several days. Glass: Riedel Superleggero Burgundy Popped and poured. Clear, medium ruby-garnet color. Very shy, tight and closed nose. Not very appealing. On the palate almost the same picture: Tight, lean, closed. Certainly with a great structure. After about 1+ h it opened up a tiny bit, but was far from being on par with Hubers Schlossberg we had before. IMO the bottle was not flawed. Too young? Maybe, but that would be surprising. This bottle was definitively not worth the price …

3 hrs slow ox. Very sad to learn this was my only btl of '12 Hundsruck. Should have opened a Centgrafenburg, sigh. On the nose: heavenly aromatics with wild strawberry, soft coconut cream, herbs, pomegranate molasses...somehow decadent and rich, but simultaneously restrained. On the palate: fantastic acidity, but dark and brooding with black cherry, strawberry, iodine and brine, almost dark seaweed with a lovely mineral turn. Beautiful rich and round but with structure and enough edges to keep the balance. Its german ! Charming . Long finish. Needed air and evolved to a real dream of a pinot. Need more

Lunch at 67 Pall Mall with fellow WSET diploma students (67 Pall Mall) : Limited notes from memory jotted down on the train home. Medium garnet appearance. Quite an intense and complex wine with a lot going on. Red fruit, dark fruit, smoky notes, earthy notes, some pepper. Highly acclaimed by Jancis, not sure why my bottle compared so poorly. This was not a great pinot noir. The fruit was a bit low / thin and it was quite acidic. A terrible pairing with Thanksgiving turkey.

This time convinced me more than 1 month before, it feels riper, rounder and richer than German PN. The nose is distinclively, in the palate some nuts with an unknown velvety for a German PN, ripe tannins but needs lot of time and air, 92-92

typical PN nose from Germany, a lot of barrique, red berries, accessible, probably with lot of potential, but in my opinion not really round and balanced, good wine but I miss the Burgundian elegance, 90+?
