Stag dinner night - one of several enjoyed on the night. Very tasty with the grilled porterhouse. A good time had by all (John, David, Rich, Lee, Gary and Dean).

One hour decant. Faintly hot when we started drinking, which was gone by the end of the meal. Rich, with herbs and leather. Probably was a fruit bomb 3 years ago, but now just rich and fat. Nice nose of leather and some black fruit. Hang around finish. Clearly Syrah, no way to mistake it for something else. VG to Excellent bottle of wine.

I really like this style tonight. Herbs, game, olive with a fair dose of oak. But not heavy, not a bomb. Just a touch tight on the finish. If I had more, I'd hold for a year or two. A ridiculous bargain at $9 on auction. Update: better day 2, more integrated, finish is without any rough edges. Drinking this while watching "Bottle Shock" - a great movie.

Decanted for one hour & this wine was a winner. Bold, black fruit & low acid/tannin making it way to easy to like. What a perfect syrah to drink now rather than later. We put this up against a Hill climber 'Jack & Jill' which was very good but it did get edged out by the ECK.

Flavors and nose seemed muted right out of the bottle, but with a little air everything opened up to reveal a fairly rich, smooth syrah, with a touch of earth on the finish. After a few hours of being open, however, heat started to pick up on the finish.

Lovely, rich Syrah. Still opening up, and improves when served @ 65 degrees and given about 30mins to decant. Dark fruits, a little earth, and a little chocolate.
