Kumeu River, Rays Road Pinot Noir, Kumeu

Lighter wine. Lovely first taste but lack of depth

P&p. Cool, fresh, darkish fruit aroma with savory, woodsy, spicy/incense notes. Oak influence is there but not overdone, with everything cohesive; smells good. Similar on the palate, cool darkish fruit with ample acidity, some lightly grippy tannins, and an impression of stony minerality developing toward the finish. A bit hollow mid-palate perhaps, but overall a characterful and enjoyable wine. Definitely on the lean, acid-driven, mineral side.

Deeper than the Village wine. Fragrant nose, floral cherry and raspberry fruit, some leafiness but not overtly green. Broader, fuller, and softer palate, fleshy but here comes some green! Soft, but kinda green...

13% vol Pale ruby appearance Super Pinot nose a little smoke and stalk then lovely red summer fruits and summer pudding with some darker notes beneath. Energetic, fruity and floral with a focus on the red. More air makes this a little more delicate, but brings out a brambly character in the fruit. Surprisingly full and broad, with finely-grained lightly grippy tannins; savoury not sappy, with soft chalky mineral flavours. Feels grown up and elegant.
