Georges Noellat Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts

Ready and drinking we’ll but soft with delicate cherry and other red berry flavors

Elegant, mature wine with tart cherry and strawberry characters mixed with a shifting bouquet of fruits and herbs. It's a great burgundy to sit with and ponder. Feels like it is still evolving. Give the last bottle another five years, at least.

Boy has this wine come a long way in the last seven years. I was not sure where it was headed as the last bottle was short and tight. This bottle shows mature, red fruit (cerise noir) with a lovely earthy edge. A bit of orange peel and cinnamon as well. Perfectly mature with a bit of acid on the finish. Not perfect but a vast improvement and a delight to drink. (92)

Light ruby with an orange hue. The nose has come a long way since the last bottle. Cherries, a touch of meat and cinnamon. Elegant weight and body - there is a distinct earthiness on the high acid finish. Almost a bit too lively - it could use a touch more roundness or texture. Needs food. Some good stuff but undernourished. Don't know where it will go but I'm not optimistic. (86)

I tasted at Taster's Guild 2002 Burgundy Dinner on 09/18/07 at PS7's in Washington, D.C. with Braised Veal Shoulder and Seared Veal Loin with Pan Roasted Cipollini Onions Seasonal Wild Mushrooms this was the top Premier Cru in the flight of 3, really lovely nose, and delicious Pinot Noir fruit!
